I am looking for a record (online preferrable) of all of the Republic of Ireland team line-ups from Jack Charltons days (1986) to today. I have not been able to find a single source despite a lot of searching. I emailed the FAI before Christmas but did not get a response. Its easy enough to get the results and scorers etc but actual team sheets from 1986 on are proving impossible to find.

Why do I want the information? Its for a dataset I am building for a project.

There is a book called 'Republic of Ireland Football facts' by Dean Hayse that contains all you are looking for.
The one I have is up to Oct '07 but there may be a more up to date edition.

It lists all games played by ROI, the team from each game.

It also list all players capped and the games they won their caps in.

The players capped are listed chronologically and it is very interesting when you get to the Charlton era.

Prior to Charlton you have a lot of player getting less than 20 caps and very few going into the 50 cap range.

Then from about 1986 to 2002 you get a big chunk of players getting a huge number of caps, and then as you get into the post McCarthy days the number of caps starts to drop again.

It really shows how strong and stable a groups of players Charlton had.

Could you cross reference the list of games with the match reports from games the following day? You could use Lexis Nexis where possible and other various forms of newspaper archives.

You would probably find much less coverage of soccer pre-1988 and friendlies often got poor enough coverage until the 1990s. But I'm sure it is possible to gather the data.

Edit: I really should have read the second post :D

Thanks so much Fr Tod Umptious. I kind of assumed that most things would be available on the net. Never even considered looking for a book. As it happens just did a quick check there and it is available in my local library!

    Thanks again.
