Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey everyone, I have a problem with my desktop PC. it boots up as normal until I reach the log in screen and it then cuts to this error message (see attached pics) It said on the error to start up in Safe Mode which I did but had the same problem with the same message appearing again.

I am also posting a pic of the options I have when I press F8 during the start up.

As I cant get logged in Im not able to go to a system restore point. Btw the problem appears to have occurred after installing windows updates an hour or two earlier. No software or hardware were installed.

I know very little about computers and would be obliged if anyone can tell me if there is a simple fix for this.

    many thanks

Jesus, resize your pics before you post em! :p

Do you have an xp cd handy? Boot in to that and then in to Repair.

Or wait before that have you tried to select "Last Known Good" option?

sorry about the pics. Got them down in size (eventually) :)

Tried the "last known good configuration" but just got the same error message.

I have the XP installation CD. How do I go about a repair? or is there any instructions somewhere online. Cant find the manual for the pc.

When the machine is booting up you should get a quick message to tap F8 (or I think it's F12). This will bring you in to the bios and allow you to set priority for boot devices. That is, put your cd drive at the top of the list.

Now, put in the cd. Reboot and then press any key to boot from the cd.

When it loads you'll have an option "Press R to repair". Press R.

    These links should help.

Page fault in nonpaged area (WinXp Pro)

The update is a possible culprit but it could also be defective RAM or a HD issue.

Followed the instructions you linked me to but have ran into a slight problem, after entering the Administrator password it is asking me for a command, it says to see a full list of the commands type help which I did and the list is as follows:

    ATTRIB
    BATCH
    BOOTCTG
    CD
    CHDIR
    CHKDSK
    CLS
    COPY
    DEL
    DELETE
    DIR
    DISABLE
    DISKPART
    ENABLE
    EXIT
    EXPAND
    FIXBOOT
    FIXMBR
    FORMAT
    HELP
    LISTSUV
    LOGON
    MAP
    MD
    MKDIR
    MORE
    NET
    RD
    REN
    RENAME
    RMDIR
    SYSTEMROOT
    TYPE

Apologies for the long list but thats the list of commands I have to choose from so want to get them all up, just wondering now what command do I enter from here?

So, Don't do repair, instead go ahead with install after you boot off the xp CD. It will tell you that there is already a copy of windows installed. It will also ask you if you want to install or repair. This is when you select repair.

Sorry guys I made a slight mistake in my last post, during the start up when running from the disk I was going into the repair option rather than the install option but everything seems to be back on track just reinstalling from the cd now

Got the installation repair done last night and now when the computer starts up the blue screen flashes for a split second and it then takes me to the F8 options (see picture with black screen in original post) I only started the computer up in safe mode and normally as I was not sure about the others but it just takes me straight back to that screen
