    Hi there,

I've been doing a lot of reading in the last few months about diabetes and weight loss because my mum has weight issues and type 2diabetes and I wanted to get more information as she is struggling with weight and takes a cocktail of drugs each day.

There is a wealth of info on the 'net regarding the treatment of diabetes and weight by using carb restriction.

A good place to look is the Nutrition & Metabolism Socitey at:

    http://www.nmsociety.org/

Jimmy Moore's website is a wealth of information too. He has interviewed many health professionals who advocate a low carb approach, mainly they talk about general health and weight loss, but he has interviewed several people who advocate a low carb approach to diabetes treatment.

There are many links to other sites on the Jimmy Moore website. You can listen to his radio interviews from the archives:

One of the links I came across was a petition site where over 1,000 diabetics have signed a petition to say how the established treatment for diabetes failed them, and how they have improved their health through restricting carbs:

    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/get-the-nih-to-acknowledge-the-existing-science-and-fund-more-research-by-the-experts-who-have/

Other names that may be worth Googling are Dr Mary Vernon, Dr Richard K Bernstein, Dr Eric Westman and you can find many more if you do the research.

    Hope this helps.

    :)
