    Hows it going.

Recently updated most of my pc, 8gigs of ram, quad core processor, but thinking about upgrading the graphics card.

Don't know loads about hard ware with computers, but I know that just seeing that a card is DDR5 and 1gb isn't what just to look for.

    Currently I have a nvidia 8800gtx (http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_8800.html) second column.

Want to upgrade to a graphics card that will do me for gaming etc, but not too costy. Is there much point upgrading or keep the one I have?

Cant do sli with this because not enough room on the mobo.

    Thanks

What is your budget? and what make and watts is your power supply unit?

    budget <100 = keep the 8800GTX

budget 100ish = ATI 5770, will be 25% to 50% faster than the 8800GTX (a classic but aging now)

budget 150ish = Nvidia 460 GTX (1 gb nonSE version), recommended, twice as fast at least

    check reviews of either

Peats are charging 139 euros for a 5750 or a standard 5770

Amazon are charging 108 sterling for a Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X (128 euros) including free shipping (from Amazon themselves , not a marketplace seller)

I got one from Amazon a while ago and I'm delighted with it .
Completely silent , and plays games well @1920x1080 .

    what about this one

A bit dearer but might last a bit longer ??

Yup, that and the GTX460 should be your options in the €150 bracket. The nVidia card is sometimes a few pennies cheaper, but the AMD is calmer and quieter, with much lower power consumption (~90W vs ~140W)

hmmmm ive a 8800gt sc , yeah few years old now but I wouldnt see the need to upgrade,

Ive dual screens running at 1920 x 1080, and it runs bad company 2 at full spec with no issues, counter strike runs at 220fps, then again ive overclocked it well

If you dont have the cash then theres no need to upgrade yet really, games out there are more than playable on the card you have

like ppl have said 460 is a good card, I buy nvidia over ati, little more power hungry but works great

I love that card. I wish I had bought two.

Buy 2. Crossfire. Profit. Assuming its a Crossfire board and not a SLi

If that 8800 hasnt burned out on you im rather surprised, all things considered. But my reccomendation is an ATI card.

hasn't burn't out, just upgraded everything else so decided to upgrade the graphics card as well. And with the newer games, I prob need dx11 along with a bit more power.
