I use the Murad exfoliater and find it fantastic ... must try some of the other products.

Interesting, I was just about to buy some Image because everyone online seems to rave about it. Never tried even a sample so would be super disappointed if it turned out middlin. I’ll read up on some of those brands.

There are loads of people who are Image fans and for good reason IMO. But you're right, it is expensive so I think you're best to speak to someone to recommend a regime before just randomly purchasing products.

Obviously lots of salons are closed but there are a lot of Image retailers offering advice online in the meantime. Perhaps you could contact someone like that, explain your skin type and what you're trying to achieve, and get products recommended on that basis?

Personally I've found Millies.ie very good (based in Kildare but ship nationwide) and they stock Image, Environ and Murad as well as other brands.

I bought Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk palette recently, and I'm really pleasantly surprised by it. I have a very noticeable pink undertone to my skin, so I've always stayed away from pinks. But actually, it's super flattering, to the point where even my husband noticed and commented on it. Really pleased!

On the other hand, I also bought the original Pillow Talk lipstick, and I'm less pleased. I wanted a nude lipstick that would enhance my normal lips suitable for work and day to day, but it's basically the exact same colour as my lips so it's a bit invisible when I put it on.

Can anyone recommend a good nude lipstick?

Pink can actually be gorgeous on skins with pink undertones (lots of Irish women!). I have very dark brown hair (natural), green eyes and fair skin that barely tans - I say I go dark white at best.

I find pinks and purples some of the easiest tones to work wiht, they can look very pretty and feminine. In contrast a lot of the gold/bronze looks just don't look quite right on me.

One of my go to lip products is East End Snob by Rimmel. Its nominally a lip liner but its very creamy and comes in a "twist up" faux pencil rather than one you need to pare, so I've been known to use almost like a lipstick and then just top it off with some balm/gloss to even out the colour and give some moisture. Its inexpensive so I while I do go through them, they're easily replaced. I also sometimes mix it with a slightly browner shade lipstick/balm.

I find "pinky/browny nudes" work best for me. A lot of straight nudes just make me look dead or like a thumb. The original pillow talk lippy does nothing for me, but I believe there are now some additions to the range for other skin tones that might be worth looking into if you like the formula but not the original pillow talk colour.

I use MAC Peach Blossom as my everyday lipstick, it's very "my lips but better" on me, but I suppose everyone's version of nude is a bit different!

Same as Sozbbz, I often use the Pillow Talk lip liner all over with lip balm on top too.

I like CT's Dancefloor Princess with Pillow talk liner. MAC's Peach Blossom is another nice nude but is more peachy than pink on me. For a more brown/nude I love MAC Bronx.

Make Up Forever do a brown liner called Endless Cacao that I find just breathes life into some of my wishy washy pinks so could be something worth considering. If you look up Katie Jane Hughes on Instagram she uses it a lot and it always look gorgeous in my opinion. :)

If you like that shade in mac, I wonder would Bitch Perfect suit? It's a peachier nude by CT

Ahh no I ordered that on Sunday and it's just been dispatched. I ordered a duo....original pillow talk and a berry one?

Hope I'm not disappointed when they come.

Hopefully not! It's still nice, and is nicer with a lipliner under it, as has been mentioned. It's quite versatile in that way.

Thanks for all the nude suggestions, I'm looking forward to trying some out!

I might order some drunk elephant products after the reviews on here. I usually use Liz Earle cleanser, but I wont be replacing when finished, due to the way they treated a pregnant employee. Drunk Elephant sounds like what I was looking for.

Anyone anything to recommend for dark circles under eyes?

Arnotts or BTs websites I suppose.

Charlotte Tilbury has their own website and at a glance its available on Feel Unique too.

Maybe see if there are any discount codes going, but prices are the same, I'd recommend supporting the Irish retailers.

Are you looking for a concealer for the dark circles?

I have the Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser by Drunk Elephant and I love it. It completely melts my makeup off. I’m definitely going to try out a few more products.

Not looking for to conceal them.... go get rid! Someone recommended a caffeine product by The Ordinary so will give that a go as well.

Drinking water and getting a good nights sleep are the best things you can do for dark circles.

Dark circles can be caused by prolonged lack of sleep and dehydration but theyre also caused by aging as fat around the eyes begins to break down and the malar fat pad and nasiolabial underneath the eye drops, this makes the area around the eyes hollow creating dark circles.
Face structure and genetics play a part but it normally begins to become more prominent in most people around early 30's.
The only way to improve the appearance is by getting fillers or surgery.
Sun damage can also cause darkening around the eyes, using sun cream, staying hydrated and concentrated vitamin C serums can help but its a natural part of aging.

I like the cerava eye cream, it's got niacinamide which should help reduce dark circles!

I've tried so many things over the years for dark circles and am resigned to the fact that it's largely genetic so limited products will help. Rest of my skin is in such good condition so have to make my peace with it :)

The best daily facial moisturiser I've ever used (and I'm starting to run out so I'm looking forward to Penneys reopening soon!!) is the Alex Steinherr Moisture-Locking Everyday Moisturiser. I have very dry and sensitive skin and have lately had decent luck with some pricier products, but this is the biggest game changer I've seen in a while. Usually I'm sceptical of any moisturisers with 'everyday' in the name because generally I need something more heavy duty, but this is just perfect.

I'm very tempted to try the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask but I'm also trying to stop spending so much money on things I don't need! Has anyone tried it and feels strongly that it's worth it or isn't? :)

The duo Pillow Talk lipsticks arrived this morning.

You were right about the original pillow talk lipstick. Not sure what I was expecting as so many people had been raving about it.

I even put my foundation on, so could see how it looked against it. It's ok, not sure what I was expecting. A bit meh....I have big lips, so could imagine it would not do anything at all for people with thin lips.

The second one - Berry Pillow Talk - is very nice.

Two face masks I’ve been absolutely loving lately are the Summer Fridays jet lag mask and the Ole Henriksen Glow Phat Facial. I often leave the Summer Fridays one on overnight and my skin is like silk in the morning. Love the Ole one too it’s what I use if I feel my skin is looking drab.

I’m also using the Farmacy Honey Drop lightweight moisturiser and I absolutely love it. It’s described as a “triple hyaluronic acid complex and cupuacu butter beads to promote glowing complexion and delivers powerful antioxidants to help nourish the skin”. Honestly slathering this on my face after a day in the sun is heaven sent. So cooling and hydrating

Before the lockdown, I had bought Toleriane Ultra 8 Spray face mist, based on good reviews.
Used it twice, and unfortunately it slightly irritated my face. Just a slight tingle, but I didn' t want to risk a reaction.
(The skin on my face can be very temperamental - so I only use a few products that I know don't cause any reaction. Toleriane Ultra (the fluid) is good and never gave me any bother)
    Anyway, I put it aside.
A few days ago I thought of using it on hands, and it is great on them.
Not sticky, can apply as often as I want.
Not a rich cream of course, but really handy to use on hands whenever I feel the skin a little bit tight.

Yes ! I use thermal water daily: Uriage works better with my skin - Avene and LRP are also good - and I also use Serozinc.
The Toleriane mist appealed to me on paper, as a very light moisturiser.
Sadly my face didn't like it, thankfully my hands do !

That's not the case for a lot people who typically complain of 'Dark Circles' though who have often had them since they were babies.

I was born with them. I even have them as a baby in pics. In fact they look much better now than when i was a kid.

Some Drs like to suggest its loss of fat etc ..as some drs use fillers to treat them. but there are lots of reasons for them that have nothing to do with again. Some people with certain ancestry just have hyper pigmentation there that has a blueish tinge or sometimes a reddish brownish tinge. In summer they can get worse. If its your skin producing that pigment filler won't help.

If it is age related then filler might be an answer.

But mine have improved over recent years when i was around 8 they were awful and i can't have more collagen now than then!.

I say rock em they were all the rage in the 90s!

Its a dangerous area to fill. So if you choose a filler go to the best Dr. Make sure they are honest with you about what is causing YOUR dark circles it could be possible filler won't help. It wouldn't for me.

My skin is just a slightly darker color around my eyes ..this gets worse the more exposed to the sun i am. Since i started to wear sunscreen I noticed they improved drastically. Its literally the ONLY thing that ever improved my dark circles.

I made my first Glossier order and I am practically sitting on the doorstep waiting for the postman! I got three lip balms, I wanted two but there's a deal for three. I got mint/no tint, unflavoured/shimmer, rose/light pink tint.

Also got the Cloud Paint blush in Dawn, been wanting to try this for ages, and for the free sample I chose their perfume.

The balms are amazing, I love the rose one best, I use it for everything, you won't be disappointed.

I've only used samples of the cloud paint, think I might invest in my next order.

The perfume is okay, reminds of D&G light blue

The Glossier scent is one of my favourite ever perfumes. It’s such a lovely clean scent, not too overpowering or “perfumey”. Just very fresh and light I love it!

My Glossier order came today! The balms are fabulous, so rich and moisturising. I'm a dope and didn't realise the birthday one was "birthday cake" flavour (thanks America, for the worst flavour ever). I thought it was just the original one with a bit of sparkle, ya know, sparkles for your birthday. The smell doesn't linger too much so that's good, but in general I hate those very sweet and fake vanilla scents.

The blush is gorgeous, a little goes a very long way. I just tipped my brush off the residue that on the top of the tube and that was enough for both cheeks. I used a Real Techniques Expert Face brush, which is very dense.

Which of the balms did you get? :) They have a bundle on the website where you can get a discount if you get 3, and I want pretty much all of them so it's hard to narrow it down :pac:

I got Mint flavour with no tint, it's smells and feels lovely. Secondly Rose which is rose scented and supposed to have a little colour but it doesn't really show up for me, for me there isn't much difference between it and the non-tinted one. Could just be how it looks on my natural lip colour. And then Birthday, as mentioned before, nice sparkle but quite heavily scented. If you want a bit of colour maybe try the Cherry one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 225 ✭✭voldejoie

I ended up going for Rose, Cherry and Mango, very excited for each! It'll be ages before they arrive but really looking forward to it.

I also got the skin tint, Cloud Paint in puff (the light pink) and Boy Brow in clear. I don't really do anything with my eyebrows at the moment so it'll be interesting to get to use it!

I bought a few items from the Skingrediants range recently. I first bought the SPF 50, Its like a dewy tinted moisturizer, ive been wearing it instead of foundation which is great as I can reapply throughout the day. It also protects against blue light from screens and phones. Its really light and ive had no irritation from using it.

I loved it so much I decided to buy a few more products, I bought the PrePropbiotic cleanser, it leaves my skin really hydrated after washing it and doesnt irritate it.

I also bought the Skin protein vitamin A + C serum. My skin is too sensitive for Retinols so thought this might be a good alternative, it says it can be used morning and night and can be used as an eye cream. So far I havent had any irritation and it leaves my skin hydrated but iv only been using it a few days so yet to see results.

Id love to know what others think of this brand? I only just came across it but the products seem really good for dry/sensitive skin.

    I've used some of skingrediants.
Skin Veg - didnt rate it, no difference in my skin.
Skin Protein - really like it, find it hydrating and like there is A&C in it, also can be used around the eyes which is great.
Skin Good Fats- not using it long but I thought with the name it would be really rich and luxurious but I find it a very standard moisturiser. As it stands, wouldnt repurchase this or Veg but am on my second Protein.

I also got the Ella & Jo hyaluronic acid - its got a lovely texture and feeling but dont know its mighty for hydration. On the fence at the min.

I got matched in bts when it came out last summer....I don’t like it at all on me. It’s very cakey or something. I’m a total whore for her stuff though and generally love what she brings out. Killing me not to buy the new airbrush bronzer but I’ve about 72 other bronzers to get through

You've done what I always do. Order it and then ask online for feedback on the shade/quality. Every single time i buy something i go googling reviews and then get worried when they reviews are **** cause it's too late. But I never learn my lesson to just do the research first!

A few months ago I bought Nars Tinted glow booster. Since I started getting lines on my face ive noticed my skin is looking quite dull and was looking for anything that added a bit of glow without being glittery or highlightery.
I love it, its really natural looking and looks great under makeup, it smooths everything out.
My only gripe is that it comes in a glass bottle, it's only 30ml and has a pump with a very small hole in the top of the bottle so will be very hard to get product out when it starts to run out.

This arrived yesterday and I tried it out today. The shade is a good match actually, it’s very close to Mac NW15, maybe slightly more yellow but it’s a good match. I wasn’t mad about it when I had it applied without anything else on top. The coverage is nice, full but not heavy, but I found it left my skin looking kind of flat or something. Once I’d applied all my other bits I genuinely couldn’t see any difference to any other day or how my make up usually looks.

Having said that though, I did a zoom call shortly after and I thought my make up looked better than usual on camera, and I was also complimented on my “skin” so maybe it’s one of those foundations that just looks better on camera than in the flesh?
Also it’s quite heavily scented which I’m not a huge fan of but I’ve heard many say they love the scent.
