    Which pads?

I tried their glycolic range recently and got a horrible allergic reaction.

    The glycolic daily cleansing ones.

Are they the extreme night pads? I've been using those for the last ten days and they seem to be bringing some of my closed comedones to the surface, which is pretty much what I want them to do. Perhaps that's what's happening for you?

They're the daily pads, but I'm hoping that this is what's happening and my skin will be beeeyootiful before long.

So the Nip & Fab pads are breaking me out slightly. I'm hoping it's just my skin adjusting and that I won't have to ditch them.

I read a few places that Salicylic acid will break some people out at the beginning as your skin is 'purging' the crap out from deep down. I freaked out as I'm using Una Brennan Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Purifying Cleansing Wash and Clay Mask, and I also started double cleansing (the fear of old age and wrinkles!) - almost gave up as I regressed to 14 and puberty, chin covered in zits. Four weeks on, and I've got two stubborn little under surface pimples, but otherwise very good. Someone might come along and correct me, but I wouldn't panic much, it's crappy to go through

Why is it that any time I go into an Inglot store they are all too preoccupied with standing around doing their make up admiring themselves than asking do if need any help?

Same for me. Admittedly I don't like when they swarm you either but there's a middle ground.

Was at the Inglot counter in the Jervis yesterday evening and they were too busy braiding each other's hair to even look at me never mind approach me!

It's awful irritating. Only for I was getting a voucher for my niece I would have walked right out. It's been that way the last few times I've been in there, all standing around the mirror lashing on even more make up. It's not that they didn't see me; they did, they just couldn't be bothered to part with the mirror.

I've always found that with inglot, you practically have to ask to give them your money. I wouldn't mind but I find the girls make up to generally be very.... draggy and the products to be.... meh.

Wouldn't be a fan of how they do their make up either. Looks like it's just sitting on their skin, would hate to wear that all day everyday.

I went to the inglot stand in blanch about 3 weeks ago and was looking to pick up two matte lipsticks and some eyeshadows I had my eye on and found them absolutely impossible to deal with.

I was with a friend at the time and the two of us were getting looked up and down and when I asked for help the girls were no more interested - they just went back putting makeup on each other! I didn't end up purchasing anything and I'm kind of raging as I loved the colour matte lipsticks they had!!

God, I go to the Inglot store on south Anne street and have to say the girls are a pleasure to deal with

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,179 ✭✭✭dee_mc

I found the assistant I dealt with in the Limerick branch really helpful. The other girl working there at the time was helping another customer. I hate poor customer service so the instances described above would really put me off.

Think I'm going to treat myself this payday so looking for some pointers regarding the shading system with the Anastasia Beverly Hills line.

For reference, my hair is a caramel colour in between a dark blonde and a light brown and I wear MAC NW30 foundation. I go for a dark strong brow but I'm still confused by what shade to get in the dip brow pomade? I was think ash brown or medium brown but I've heard the medium is much darker in the pan than online!

As for the cream contour kit, I was thinking of getting the 'Fair' pallet, while its light it's what I need for contouring, by the looks of the swatches online at least.

Anyone able to offer any insight or recommendations? TIA :)

I am no help with ABH products as I don't fill in my brows!!

I saw this tutorial/video earlier by Em from My Pale Skin and she uses the fair contouring palette, thought this video might be helpful. :)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnjazZeuo2c

In an older video she mentions she is NC15 in MAC so if she uses NC15 and you use NW30 maybe the palette might be too light for you?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaFZ139G5mM

I am only guessing here. I've never used a contouring palette, so couldn't tell you for definite.

Ordered some new real techniques brushes. Should be here by the weekend. Very excited to try.

I find contouring pallets a no go for me the colours never match so I use separate blush bronzer and highlighter.

FYI penneys do a new highlighter in a powder form. It's really lovely. A little goes a long way.
the setting spray is good too. Close rival to my urban decay one.

I have really red cheeks, not blotchy or broken veins just a bright flushed look that I hate and want to hide. The only way to hide it is to use a green colour balancing cream, concealer and then foundation, but because my skin is dry naturally it looks very caked on and gives me a trowelled in make-up look.

To make it worse I have little under the skin spots in that area which nothing seems to shift and they seem more visable when I put make up on :(

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to hide the ruddy farmers cheeks?

    Is it roseacae?

I was told to use micellar cleanser and not to use facial wash again :(
I keep face away from shower spray.
I use la Roche posay moisturizer for red sensitive skin. I don't use my day moisturizer at night any more. Apparently skin needs a break from spf.

If spots are with the roseacae then your gp can prescribe an antibiotic. I've not done this

I don't think so, I looked that up and it doesn't seem to be it though I'll check with my doctor.

If its rosy cheeks, you may need to go down the laser route - I had laser done as I constantly looked 'wind lashed'. It helped but I'd like to go back and do another set of sessions.

I had a pic up earlier but I deleted it in case anyone recognised me!! Maybe that's it though.

There was a 20% Sigma code going around on Twitter last weekend so I decided to invest.
Picked up the Make Me Crazy kit which is on offer at the moment ($179 -> $125)

    c1c0a6bc-5ef6-4ffd-bbea-97d1dfda98d4

The blogger who tweeted the code recommended the E54 brush for packing on shadow so I got one of those too.
And then I got to pick a free gift so I chose the P88 (Precision Flat Angled Brush)

Total was €98 including delivery. I'm sure I'll get hit for customs but I don't mind too much, been wanting a Sigma kit for a while! :)

Also ordered The Balm's Mary Lou-Manizer from Cloud10Beauty as they have a 15% code going around at the moment (GOSS15)

I have the Anastasia Dipbrow in Soft Brown & Brow Wiz in both Caramel and Soft Brown... I have blonde hair for reference on the darker warmer side and caramel is a better match for me but I can use soft brown too if I don't go too heavy with it. The blonde and taupe anastasia shades only suit platinum ashy blonde hair. Even though anastasia has loads of shades I found it very hard to get a perfect shade match as they all swatch completely different to how they are described on her hair colour shade guide chart. If you are thinking about getting dipbrow I would recommend that you get the Mac Fluidline Brow Gel Creme instead as it knocks dipbrow out of the water. It's basically the same thing but applies better, is quicker to use and does not budge all day. I find it even easier and quicker to apply than the brow wiz. You can make your brows as natural or stronge as you like as long as you have the right brush. For reference I wear the shade Dirty Blonde in Mac which is basically a light-medium brown shade and matches me perfectly, better than any of the Anastasia shades. I would recommend the antastasia no. 12 brush as it applies both the dipbrow and Mac fluidline brow like a dream. It is hands down the best brush I have ever owned and I even start to panic when I can't find it as the thought of doing my eyebrows without it breaks me out in a cold sweat:o:o
The Mac fluidline brow gel Creme & anastasia no. 12 brush are the ultimate brow dream team. It sounds like my friend has the same hair colouring as you and she uses Mac "dirty blond" as well as it a light-medium brown colour. We both wear the same shade as even though I have lighter hair than her, my eyebrows are lighter so the shade is lighter on me and it comes up darker on my friend as underneath her brows are darker if that makes sense :P She also is shade "soft brown" in antastasia. Mac also have darker shades so you should be able to find a match. My advice is go into Mac in brown Thomas & have a look at the shades and then buy Anastasia no. 12 brush off beautybay as they ship to Ireland for free when you spend over €19. Hope this helps :)

Bought a new whitening toothpaste recently. It's bverely hills charcoal whitening toothpaste. It's a black toothpaste but it foams up to be white and I love it. My mouth gets thoroughly abused with tea, coffee, coke, red bull, locozade (not all in one day might) and my teeth are looking much better. Not white mind you but I wasn't expecting miracles with the abuse I put my mouth through.

Matt O Flaherty's chemist in Galway city, beside Brown Thomas.

I think maybe Tesco might stock the toothpaste too.

I bought the nyx contour pallette in McCabes pharmacy the other day. Absolutely love it, it comes up really well and there is a great range of shades in it for when you want to go really dramatic or a more softer look in the day time.

I'm mad keen to get the eyeshadow palette & the blusher in this range.

    They look gorgeous!!

    But can't find them anywhere.

This range is due in for April & May only according to their site.

Just ordered Vita Liberata Marula Oil Self Tan SPF50. I had been thinking about buying it for weeks as its normally 49 so a bit more than I'd like to spend on this type of product. The current skincare discount on Cloud10 Beauty made me do it! ;)
    Has anyone tried it?

That's great! They really are worth the hype IMO, and much cheaper per unit than other AHAs.

I've stuck with the night time ones for about a month now and the texture of my skin is far, far better. I've noticed some of my old acne scars are starting to fade, and any spots I do get tend to heal much quicker now.

I've never really suffered from spots (even when the NF was breaking me out it was more just loads of little red bumps) but I've never had a particularly even complexion and these have definitely made a difference in that regard. And I daresay I definitely think my skin is younger-looking too.

Not bad at all for 11 quid! (They were on special in Boots when I bought them.)
