Yeah Rooney might get it, but Smalling was immense in there next to Vida

Agreed and relieved . . Evans is a complete liability and I was getting worried that we would really miss Rio in the games he was out . . If Smalling can play consistantly like this and continue to improve he is a superb defender in the making !

That is a goal that will be replayed for decades and decades and decades.

A bit jealous of those right behind the goal to witness it!

Jaysus, the circle jerk over Rooney on my stream has gone into overdrive. Yeah, it was a great goal but he had a woeful match otherwise imo.

Hardly woeful. Not his best by any means, but just shows the quality he posseses when he comes up with a moment more akin to FIFA 11.

Vincent Kompany was a monster, terrific performance from him.

Chris Smalling was very solid, taking his age and experience into account it was brilliant to see.

All in all im just so glad no camera was on me when Rooney's christ-goal went in. Would easily pass a million views on youtube.

Stunning goal and it deserves to win any game.

We were great in spells but that early Silva chance should have been put away and when you don't take your chances you're punished.

Better than the last game at least.

1-1 draw would've been a fair result for 94:06 of the game, but the winner deserves to be a winner. I'd still pick the Newcastle strike though...

Thought United were poor until the 2nd goal for all but 5 minutes between the 1st goal and HT. Dzeko was poor, Silva was the catalyst for most attacks, but was one final ball away and Yaya Toure was anonymous and slow in the second half..

Smalling, what a game. Tevez will be glad to see the back of him. Nani was brilliant in the first half, quieter in the second half but still really good.
Rooney, quiet, worked hard but Christ above, that goal!
Giggs was mixed, gave the ball away a bit but still gave Richards a tough time.

    Fecking delighted! :D

Smalling was outstanding. He reminded me of Ferdinand, fantastic performance. Really excites me as a future prospect. I've always thought that while Vidic is a great defender, there are quite a few great defenders in his style. Ferdinand is a rarity, and Smalling could be that defender.

Nani great performance, the real difference between the teams. Unreal goal.

People will talk about City getting hard done by, but for all their possession, they didn't really create much.

    Fantastic victory, feel great!

Yet again, Nani at the centre of absolutely everything we do going forward. Another goal and another assist. End Product?

Also, Mike Summerbee is a miserable old sod.

    Typical of Sky .Imbeciles.
The match is 90 minutes long,Rooney was poor for the vast majority of it.
That Summerbee guy on Sky is a bitter ignorant man.He wont be asked back.

Mike Summerbee throwing the toys out of the pram on Sky now. Cringeworthy.

Come on Jamie put that plonker Sommerbee in his place . .

When I lick the tv it tastes very bitter . .

What a goal! All match I was giving out that Rooney didn't look interested and that his movement was awful and then *BOOM* take it out.

Smalling and Vidic were immense at the back. Evra was terrible. He wasn't in position once. Only for Vidic we would have been left open more often.

    Great result.

Lol at that old fogie Man City player on Sky Sports 2 - "It took a goal of that caliber to beat us" & "It was a wonderful goal, but I wish you'd show our play"

I meant because Rooney's an established international with England.

Personally i thought Berba's vs Liverpool was better, but Rooneys was a screamer. Hopefully he can continue to kick on cos most of his general play wasn't great at times.

And that summerbee fella is bitter as hell, going off on a rant on Sky now!

Cracking goal from Rooney, BUT, the thoughts of listening to everyone saying ''he's back, blah, blah, blah'' which happens every time he scores 1 in 10.

I agree, Smalling had a great game as did Kompany IMO, but with a goal like that it was obvious Sky would choose Rooney
