Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Connecting NTL and Blue Ray to Amp audio IN

    Hi,

I've been playing my TV audio from my NTL box thru an oldish Pioneer amp with separate speakers (lovely sound) - I'm using the red and white audio OUT on NTL to same type audio IN on the amp (There is only one audio IN on the amp and its the red and white plug in type).

I've now invested in a BlueRay player and have been playing this thru the amp but need to disconnect audio red and white from NTL box and connect to Blue Ray each time i want to switch. Again, the sound is brill thru the amp/speakers so worth the hassle.

I'm wondering is there any little 'box' you can get that you can plug both your NTL audio and your Blueray audio OUT (red and white) into and then have both connected via this 'box' to the amp red/white IN - Means both units would be connected to the amp at the same time and would save switching back and forth as required.

Hope this makes sensend thanks for any help :)

Maplin UK have this on offer: http://mobile.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=97932&tabid=1&criteria=usb&c=so&u=strat15 . Though I'm sure there is something cheaper available probably on EBay ? 20 quid sounds a bit expensive for what it it, a few phono connectors and a switch in a box !!

Thanks Zener for that - Wasn't sure if there was such a thing! Will have a look on ebay as you suggest - If nothing there will go with Maplin.

    Thanks again:)

is there an optical in on the pioneer amp?

connect the blu ray to that if there is.

Hi - Unfortunately no optical IN. Just the two sockets for the red and white audio input. Its a 20 year old Pioneer unit :o(was the bees knees in its day).

You could go the cheap route and just use phono splitters and whichever product is on will route audio through your amp?!
    Something like this would work..

Does the amp have a Tape REC/PLAYBACK Inputs ? You could use the PLAY connectors for one of your sources and simply choose the TAPE input on the selector at the front of the amp to hear that source !?

In theory you can use any LINE level input on the amp for any LINe level source. So if the amp has a TUNER input at the rear you could use it for either the NTL box or the PS3.

What's the model number of the amplifier ?

    Hi - Its a Piohneer S - P630 amp.

There's a separate CD and Tape unit that connects to the amp with a 'boot strap' lead. The only other input options on the amp are the red and white audio connections.

The audio splitters look like the only option so I will be checking them out in Peats.

    Thanks for suggestion.
