Not sure if this has been posted already, but just checked on my phone and got updated Ireland maps as of 06/02/2011. Version 00.02.42.122 - nice to see the motorway all the way to Galway now exists! :)

(apologies if this has been posted already but I never noticed it anyway!)

Nope mine's not showing any update. I have an N8 with latest firmware, but I'm using beta maps 3.06 so maybe that makes a difference?

Did you go thru the SW update app or thru the maps app itself?

    Are you wk48 or wk50

hi davy. Do you know what all that means. I seem to be using the same version 3.06 with the last bit the same only 10wk46 b01 instead. I also upgraded this morning on ovi suite.

dr ro, just install the latest maps from the ovi store and it will update your slightly older beta version into the official 3.06.

Zombie thread revival, sorry but didn't want to start a new one.

Have been loving the nokia maps but have run into a snag recently.
I went abroad, a time when GPS would be most useful, but when I activated the roaming, I was told to deactivate the data connections because the costs would be outrageous.
As a result, the maps function become completely obsolete as it couldn't use 3g to trace locations/movements.

Does anybody know of a way to get the maps/tracker to work offline?

It works fine offline but does take quite a while to get a signal sometimes, especially if you've flown abroad since last usage. I've used it (N95, N97, N8) abroad both with and without data connection as support. For reference it might take 5-10 mins to get a signal with GPS alone if memory serves me correctly, but once you're "located" it should be grand (unless it's an N97 which was rubbish for GPS!). I'm assuming your phone is one with GPS!

Ah right, I was away and was waiting minutes for it to locate my position so I just assumed it wasn't going to work.
But does that mean it could take 5-10mins to re track every metre?

I've used Nokia gps in England Spain Germany and here and have never had to wait even 5 mins for a signal. When you get it though it works properly.

    Maybe it's just my phone.
