    Hi Folks,

I started getting a message half way through a match on FIFA 11 stating "This disc is unreadable, please clean it with a soft cloth...." so I thought it was a problem with the disc but now its appearing on all my games and I have cleaned the discs even though they were not dirty but I am still having the problem.

has anyone else had this problem and how did they sort it out ?

    Cheers,

    Mark.

Strange. This sounds like a defect with the xbox itself, not the games. Can you try install the game to the harddrive and see if it will work then?

Dirty lens on the 360 is a possibility. Have you got a lens cleaning kit thingy?

The laser could also require a POT calibration, you'd need someone with the tools and know how to do that.

That's happened to me, even when the game's installed on the hard drive and the cache on the drive is cleared. Still haven't remedied it yet

Similar post in another thread: Delete and re-download the update lads. Go into your memory in System Settings, highlight the hard drive and press LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X. Re-download the update and if it's still happening, you might need to get the console itself repaired.

I got the lens cleaning kit ( the cd with the little brush) and cleaned it, but its still happening.

Found a place in Tallaght that fix them cheap enough. Gonna bring it in to them. I'll let ye know how I get on.

I don't have a price yet as I did not bring it in yet. I had asked the guys in Game in the square if they fixed X Boxes and they said No, but that there was another place in the square, (can't remember the name) where a group of lads specialised in fixing electronics and were good and very reasonably priced.

Found them and they said bring it in which I will nearer payday

They could not fix it as its a problem with the updates. So after spending 3 weeks trying to figure out what the problem was and taking it apart and cleaning it they gave it back to me and did not charge me for it.

    can't get fairer than that.

The guys in Tallaght probably adjusted the resistance on the laser diode, the next best fix is a new laser or a new drive
