i met 3 slurry tankers on the road today saw 1 spreading,going at mine over the weekend before the rain.

We're in Zone c and our inspirational role model organic farmer neighbour emptied his whole tank last week over 2 nights. He spread over the ditches with a tanker bend on every bit of land that he has with road along side. Did a double run over it in some places - you can see the lines of slurry along each hedge.

Are there different rules for organic farmers?

our neighbour is spreading at the moment, reckon it will be completly wasted and land is definately not dry enough yet to to be travelling in and out of fields. brilliant day today, signed off two decent jobs and another to price then went over to feed cattle and heard a calf bawling with the cows. went in and found another one with her. the cow hadnt even shown a proper springing.
And for whelan another one for that scanner, he didnt even notice there was twins in her
Alls well anyway should i be hoping for 2 1000 euro weanlings or will i be doing well to get 500 a piece.:D

when where they scanned, no scanner will pick up twins after 5 months- i am not defending him or anything , he is an ignorant p^%&(:cool:

lads im in zone B but the ****e is coming up thru the slats this mornings so will have to take tomorrow off and put out a few loads, was hoping to make it to the oficial date but cant be helped. not a hope of traveling ground around me so will have to blow it over ditches and walls, not ideal but has to be done

I'd be happy enough to see someone like you who has no more room take out a few load and spread it sensibly as opposed to letting it flow over the tank. It's the guys who are emptying their whole tanks this week that would bother me. You don't really have much option unless u have a neighbour who will take a few load into their tank for you?

ya 2 chances of that around me, cattle indoors since early enough in Oct so most tanks will be approaching full soon enough id think

A neighbour of mine was telling me at the weekend agitating it will bring it down by up on a foot, particularly if it is watery. Can't say he is the most realiable source - anyone else here agree?

ya it goes down a good bit alright when you agitate it but it would be back up again in jig time unless you actually took some out

I'd guess about 1200 litres. Our neighbour uses an ibc for meal and said it Hilda about 750kg when full.

The auld lass we sent off to the factory was graded and priced to us today, I told my Dad that it would be between 1430 & 1460. I was a tenner out, still would have been dearer in Clonee......

EDMONTON - A lack of snow this winter is raising concern for Alberta’s agriculture industry.
“We need snow and we need it badly,” said Alberta Agriculture Minister Evan Berger on Wednesday.
In his Nanton-area constituency, wildfires fanned by wind along snow-free grasslands destroyed homes and farm buildings last week.
“In southern Alberta, it’s serious in the water front. We’ve never lost a crop before in January but we do need that replenishment,” Berger said, adding other areas of the province have also received below-average snowfall.
“I’m cautiously optimistic that it will all resolve itself.”
Humphrey Banack, president of the Wild Rose Agricultural Producers, said he is concerned about lack of snow insulation on winter and perennial crops.
“If we don’t have some snow cover, the alfalfas and winter wheats for production next year will be hurt, and we’re talking about very cold weather moving in next week and that frost and cold will damage those crops and their viability going into the spring,” he said.
Banack said there is still time for enough precipitation to fall to provide moisture.
“We can see a heavy snowfall and rain through March and April.
“The biggest thing is we need four to six inches (10 to 15 centimetres) of insulating snow on our perennial crops.”

Isn't amazing how farming and vegetation develop to suit the environment and weather conditions? If we got the kind of snow they're praying for the country would come to a standstill!!

it came with the camera enverio media,i think:D.no probs from cam to comp and worked out editing [not great at it] getting there now to try get it up here.:rolleyes:

We have been advised to limit stickies to 2 or 3 on each forum.

Aul fella is looking to put up a new shed, lean to along one side of a 3 bay hayshed. Has been calling guys to price the works for him for two months now and can't get any one to give a solid answer. Is this recession just a myth or a people genuinely struggling to get work?

i bought a 47 x 20 (12ft at front fallling to 10ft at back) free standing lean to with 5ft sides for €2,400 plus the vat on saturday. I was 3 months getting prices :eek: and only managed to get 2 prices from about 15-20 calls and calls and repeat calls

could you pm their contact. i priced the steel alone for a four bay open sided. with 6' overhang. the 8x4 steel without being cut no cleats or any welding done came in at 1900.

No, you'll need to balance it with something like a Pulp Nut, in a 50:50 mix. That's what I fed to dry suckler cows a few winters back.
