ive been on jsa for about a year now-is it ok to shred those receipts they give you when you collect the dole in the post office?

What use might those receipts have?

I just piled up a load of them last night myself, they're waiting to be shredded. Don't think you need to keep them, they need to give them out though as it's a copy of the receipt you sign or something.

You might be asked to show them if you apply for somwething like refuse collection yearly charge waiver. I would definitelly keep them until they are 6 month old at least, or a year. They are a proof that you have been in receipt of benefits and are on a low income.

There is no need to hold onto them. You can get a statement from sw if its needed for rent allowance etc.
