    I,m working on a pc for a friend.IT s a dell 2400 2.oghz pentium4.
THE mobo lan does not work.IT has 3 slots free , so i got an old lan card .The lan card has a 3pin power slot at the rear .Identical to a floppy power input, 3 pins.DO i use the floppy power cable to supply power to it.
The motherboard has 3 interfaces free, looks like short pci slots ,like this
    below,
    http://www.myri.com/myrinet/PCI/m2m-pci32.html
the slots are about 7 and a quarter cm long ,with a small dividing gap at the 6.cm 2mm point.
The lan card is 8 years old.
Where would i buy a lan card to fit that interface,a pci short card, lan card? The lan card fits ,but it doesnt show up ,in device manager. I have windows xp sp2 installed.

I have a standard pci lan card, also, ,but it does not fit into the slot.
Update, I just fixed it, by swapping in a spare mobo that has an onboard lan interface.
