Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know will this be shown on tv?

New Nike ad is just brilliant, really does highlight how this kid from Brazil helped change the game and catapult the sport to a celebrity unheard of in football (with a little help from Nike themselves).

    Bumpity bump

    Streams
    Potentially English
    Portuguese
    Spanish

Looking forward to it, hope he scores :)

Was going to lump a few quid on him to score just for the fun of it more than anything, but @ 1.36 I'll be avoiding it like the plague (he's only @ 6.50 to score a hat-trick! Would love to see that happen).

Brasil cutting the Romanian defence to shreds at times, can see Ronaldo getting a goal when he comes on.

The Big Man could have had a hat trick on another night .
Pity he doesnt play another fifteen minutes at the start of the second half but his knees look like they are wrecked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

Calling it quits now myself and hitting the hay. A shame to see how much his body has faltered, he looked shattered, and was struggling even in the little time he had - what's almost worse is he managed to show that he still has the brain for it, taking up good positions and made some nice passes.

Almost shed a tear. End of an era.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,658 ✭✭✭✭Peyton Manning

Bravo Fenomeno, he's gone through enough and thoroughly deserves to enjoy his retirement. It was a big ask to even get 15 minutes out of him, as his knees are so bad these days. Thanks for the memories :D

He used to be known as the Fat Ronaldo, now he's the Fat Fat Ronaldo.

    Still a genius

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭Sacksian

Just looking at this video and the reactions from players and crowd, he must be one of the most universally loved footballers of all time (as well as being a phenomenon).

Not attempting a Ronaldo vs. Ronaldo segue but can't see Ronaldo ever being as popular as Ronaldo was when Ronaldo retired when Ronaldo does eventually retire. That might just be my own pro-Ronaldo bias though. Just never warmed to Ronaldo. Great athlete, but not in the same class as Ronaldo.

That volley, its all just so effortless for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,057 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

If he had not have got that bad knee, then I think we would be talking about the Fat Ronaldo in the same breath as Pele, Cruyff, Maradona, Puskas....and Messi, Thin Ronaldo.

Haha. The moniker 'Thin Ronaldo' should stick!

    You're right.

But luckily he did have bad knees, and his terrific performances despite those problems proved he was better than the above
