Whats the story with Jackie the vegan freak??

How did she stay in last night??

All she does is cry. Major drama queen and he food is all the same.

    Seriously annoying

This is the vegan who was worried about not being able to butter her filo pastry in time? And who cooked scallops wrapped in puff pastry a couple of weeks ago? Chicken before that? And in her own words eats a "predominantly vegetarian" diet?

She's no vegetarian, just a total attention seeking fraud, but they're pandering to her.

When was the last time on MC they had an exclusively vegetarian round (circus tent) for people who clearly aren't vegetarians anyway? Or a guest chef who's a specialist in vegetarian food (Ottolenghi)?

The whole thing is a setup

    DFI, you're quite right but:

It's called appealing to a wider audience.... LOL

The closer you look it's taking the appearance of a well manipulated TV show, the food is just the carriage for the antics.

Put the same selection of people doing origami and the judges would be perfectly at home. The tears at nearly failing, the .............

I wonder if they all sign confidentiality clauses not to reveal the .......... as this is a recorded series you would have thought that somewhere on the net you would have found the final results.

    Pretty well kept secret.

For me Tim is the only inventive cook. The rest are just copying receipts you would find in a decent cook book. He may not always get it right but when he does according to the judges its spectacular.

    Tom is also very good.

The rule for originality is not to allow the source to be known.... Tim had a stay in Japan...

LOL just a tad off topic...

Greg Wa;llace has just re married...

On MC Aus they had a vegetarian challenge which they had to cook for a group of carnivores (builders iirc)

agree with the rest though - her eyes bulging annoy me

Good old Daily Mail. They say this quote:
'What's helped me more than anything is the fact I'm on TV. I've had so much female interest.

'It's either that or these girls had pictures of tubby bald greengrocers on their walls when they were growing up. Which one do you reckon it is?

'The girls are getting younger, too. I'm seeing one who's 29, but they have been as young as 21. God, that was hell. She didn't want to go to bed at night and she didn't want to get up in the morning.

'We had very little to talk about.'

was from 3 months ago, but I remember reading that in a magazine interview at least 18 months ago. I remember it very clearly, especially the last bit, and I was about to post that in my reply before I read it in the article!

He does come across like a complete twat though.

He does come across like a complete twat though.

You seem to have the wonderful knack of understatement.

    LOL

    Fat little lecherous git.....

    More appropriate?

I like the lines from his ex wife, he left all his expensive clothing behind but took his Lewd magazines....

Strange priorities? considering his claims of an "over active" sex life.

About 10 minutes behind on Sky+..

.. but James is in serious trouble.

    I've a feeling he's a goner. It's unfortunate as she's the only contestant I've really warmed to.

EDIT: Well.. no suprise there. A shame.. but they would have never have gotten rid of Jackie after the cut finger.

Next week, it's the Masterchef Oz classic - the Croquembouche.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

Yep, James went too far with the experiment, the critics words were prophetic.

The vegan lady looks like a risk to life and limb.... and the drame queen of the series... the whole series not just this one...

Money has to go on Tim...

Greg's comments of spotting the good one...Hmmmmm

Yep - Tim all the way now.
No surprise that James is gone after what he put in front of the critics last night - a real hodge podge to be honest.
But please - can we say goodbye to our Vegan friend next week - this show is not meant for dramatic people like her.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

The vegan lady and her exit.

We can only live in hope.

Hmm, could this be the first vegan to win the series... ROFL ..well, it does seem as tho the series does have some serious vegan issues

I love this programme - all of them, professional, celebrity - the whole lot! :D

I liked James - real shame he has gone now. That nutty veg woman is a liability in the kitchen. But I like the Italian woman - she seems to be keeping her head down and doing a really good job.

I would never condone violence against women but I really really want to punch Jackie hard in the face.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 329 ✭✭drBill

At last they're starting to concentrate on the food and cooking rather than all that audition nonsense.

Sorry to see James go, but he took a big gamble with those dishes and it all went wrong, they couldn't really have dropped anyone else except him that night.

Vegan Jackie is doing my head in, how tense and wound up can one person get? Can't see her winning against the others anyway so hopefully she goes before she loses a limb or blows the place up!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

so hopefully she goes before she loses a limb or blows the place up!

Would they are tell the viewers?

It could make a good series of the blunders in a year or two.

    ROFL

    OK

    Odds:

    Tim even money

    Sara 2/1

    Tom 2/1

    Jackie 25/1

Sad to see James go, was a really likeable guy. Bet he really regrets that tattoo now

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

Thew vegan lady is still there.. a complete shambles with the dough Tim's chocolate drink was not liked at all.

next one has got to go.. please let it be the walking disaster area.. as John said... no knives this week so she was reasonably safe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,655 ✭✭✭1966

What struck me about this week was - a la carte menus for food critics / Oxford college etc and for the War veterans they do high tea.

What a lovely crowd of people the veterans were too and they were sooooo delighted with the treat!

I actually found it very emotional.

Anyone know when its finished? Is it this week or does it go through next week as well?

We've episode 12 of 15 this week, so there'll be another 2 - 3 weeks of it anyways.

If I was a betting man, I'd say the final two episodes will air the same week (over a Wednesday and Thursday).

Im on hols next week so hope I dont miss the end. That would be typical!! :(:(

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Dovies.. but the final 3 episodes are next week from Monday - Wednesday. Ah well, Sky+ it and you'll be grand!

What an absolute stunning final 4 dishes tonight... I thought Tom's (seafood) looked absolutely superb.

Am glad Jackie is gone, but it was tough to call who would go between herself and Zara.

I think I'd be happy if Tom or Tim wins... I actually really enjoy Tim's alternative dishes but I do think Tom would be the more humble winner.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

If you can access the BBC IPlayer , the episodes are all available .. Also via the website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t1k5

The way Greg was praising Jackie's dumplings I thought she might even win the series.... LOL

The comments Sara gained from the sci fi gastrochef were very complimentarty, plus the acclaim from the Royal Society diners. ... could well end up as runner up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,655 ✭✭✭1966

Yeah I think sara is a real dark horse but tim will pip her at thepost

Yeah saw that!:mad: Flamin typical
    Dont have sky!!

I think after the first 2 parts of the finale, Tom could pip it at the post. He was very strong.

It depends on how whacky Tim gets in the finale tonight. If he takes a risk and doesn't pull it off, it'll cost him the title.

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,881 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I've really warmed to Tim. A lot of contestants would have sat around acting a tad defeated after the situation with the souffles and ice cream on Monday night. But he made do and forged ahead (although I do think the VERY positive reviews of the milkshake was a tad suspicious). And at the end of the day, I'd actually buy a book containing some of his bizarre recipes.

Tom really has come into his own as a chef. He's gotten stronger and stronger.. his presentation has improved and his food is becoming more consistent.

But Sara is very good too, although I don't know if she'll win it. But I was wrong about Lisa Faulkner on Celeb Masterchef last year.

Wasn't too fond of last night's episode, but Monday's cooking at John Torode's was great TV.

I'd be happy with Tom or Tim... Tom would be slightly more humble about a win, but Tim could do very well in the cooking world with his more original (at times bizarre) take on food.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,019 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

Tom always looks under pressure and unsure of himself, same with the other girl crying after every dish she cooks  Tim was given the main course last night for a reason. It was a crappy challenge anyway, it looked like they all had their hands held throughout. I'm sure any competent amateur cook could do that with an illustrated manual and an expert guiding them.

Hmmm I fancy Sara to pip the guys ... I agree Tom has matured, become very strong. Tim, seems to buckle under pressure ..His Monday? night's comment, It's up to you two addressing Tom and Sara.

The Tuesday meal was about timing and ability to work under pressure... The most powerful of the guests... the lady in white...LOL
