Hi There! Check out performance bike, they have a location in Philly, great deals to be had, in store sales all the time, their own brand clothing is great quality. Great website also, I've been going to one of the stores in Ohio for the last 4 years!

DON't visit R&A Cycles in Brooklyn. It claims to be the world's largest bike store. It's not. If it was on Main Street Ballyhooley it wouldn't even be the largest bike shop in Ballyhooley.

It might be worthwhile checking out REI.com website first, you'll get an idea of prices. (REI recreational Equipment Inc. is a sort of co-op) They stock a good range of cycle specific gear.

There doesn't appear to be stores located in central Philadelphia, (in suburbs Marlton say 8 miles East and Norristown, further out to the North). The Store in NYC is not due to open untill late this year.
If you find a bargin you could order on-line in advance and have it delivered to your address when there.

The Edge is likely to be cheaper and is easy to carry home. Most bike stuff that you would pick up at normal retail in a physical shop isn't cheaper than you can get here discounted on the internet, IMO. Remember buying in a physical shop you will need to add sales tax to the prices you see on the internet. Internet sales are effectively tax free in the US, but in physical shops they quote all their prices before tax... the tax is lower than here but it does mean stuff costs more than it appears at first.
