    Hi

    Does anyone where Visual Studio 2010 pro can be got for the cheapest?

    On US Microsoft site its $799 (€591)

    On the UK site its £709 (€842)

    Is it possible to buy it from US site? or is there a better alternative.

    Thanks

    Just in case you haven't heard of them, there's the free Express versions, depending on what you want to do;

    Other than that, if you're a student or teacher you can get Studio Professional at a considerable discount (about €150, I think).

    Beyond that, I haven't seen lower prices than the ones you've quoted, and no, I don't think you can buy from the US site, would have to be the UK or EU one - likewise on Amazon.com, they'll only ship it to US addresses. Guess there's always EBay, though that may be risky.

    Edit; depending on your circumstances (in a startup), BizSpark may also be of interest;

    I think DreamSpark is an equivalent for students;

    you can get visual studio 2010 professional edition from dreamspark. its a microsoft run initiative to give students access to these programs for free.

    just note, you have to prove your a student. its very quick and easy to do as long as you have a student card from a college/uni.

    Thanks, I need a commercial licence though.

    Fairly big price difference between US and UK though :confused:

    Contact http://www.micromail.com, they're based in Cork. I got a quote for VS from them a while ago.

    Well, bear in mind the Express editions can be used for commercial development if you want. If you're aiming to do some .NET development, they may suit. Far as I can recall, the major missing features in Visual C# Express are no resource editor and missing more advanced stuff like add-ins and remote debugging, though a lot of the extra bells and whistles outside the IDE itself from the full Pro edition probably aren't there either - Spy++, reporting tools, Team Server support, etc. Still, it certainly covers the standard stuff, might be worth a look if you're trying to keep a budget down.

    See if any of the programs @ www.microsoft.com/partner offer it.
