Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I have a night shoot coming up, exterior with an amazing black model. Just wondering if anyone has tips re lighting, metering (I don't normally use one) or exposure.

    Thanks Hugh_C

Try not to clip your left hand side (I think that's the most PC I can put it) in the histogram, the same as you'd try not lose the right hand side if shooting causcasian skin. Meter to get the skin the way you want it before you start shooting seriously. If you're shooting film, it might be worth testing with digital first, just to make sure you're happy with how it's coming out.

    Have fun!

Specular highlights are your friend, apparently.

If the skin is very dark, that is.

Steve would the softbox work with Nikon flashes? I'd be using an SB-600 and SB-800. Have a 42" brolly already but the softbox sounds an interesting proposition.

    Don;t suppose you have sandbag(s)?

    Thnks Hugh

Thanks Bernard - interesting snipppt from that article:

The only thing I'm going to do is use the light coming from the side and around the subject. What we need to do when we're photographing a black person is to bring an extra light in from a 90-degree angle.
