    I'm currently working in Portland Oregon on the J1 IWT Visa. I was lucky enough to find a job in a bank after 2 and a half months of pain staking job hunting.

    It's very similar to Ireland weather wise in that it rains here nearly all the time. The weather supposedly changes and becomes sunny and hot from around mid-June onwards, which is hard to believe after the amount of rain I've been witnessing, but I hope it's true!

    The people are mostly friendly, but as with any big city are very cliquey. You really have to make the effort if you want to break into the tight social circles here.

    Once you have found a good social scene there is so much to do here that I don't even know where to start. I don't think I'd do the place justice if I did so just let me know if you have any other questions!
