13 goals in 12 games. Scores a cracker of a goal against the best team in the world. Been a roaring success since he came back from injury. Himself, Messi and Ronaldo three most in form players in the world at the moment.

    Neuer

    Lahm----Pepe----Vidic----Cole

    Alonso

    ----Xavi
    Iniesta

    Messi
    Ronaldo

    Ibrahimovic

Bench; Reina, Pique, Dani Alves, Kompany, Fabregas, Sneijder, Nani, Higuain.

By the way I think Pepe is vastly underrated by most on this forum. He holds the Real defence together and is to my mind as good as Vidic if not better.

    - Reina

    Lahm - Ferdinand - Vidic - Conetrao

    Nani - Xavi - Schweinsteiger

    Messi - Ibhrahimovic - Ronaldo

    Messi---

    Van Persie

The amount of people putting Messi on the left is strange. He always plays either through the middle or cutting in from the right.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,557 ✭✭✭bamboozling

And putting Ronaldo on the right wing. You wouldn't put Dani Alves left back and Ashley Cole right back?

Ronaldo is a left winger, Messi is a right winger. Simples.

If this is on form Essien should not be in any team. :(

Ronaldo can play left right or middle. Its very hard to define where he plays really. Same for Messi, if anything he's played through the middle a lot for Barca this season. Most of the front three's put into these teams would be so fluid their positions on paper would be largely irrelevant.

    Schweinsteiger

    Neuer

    Maicon---Chiellini----Vidic----Bale

    Tiote

    Xavi
    Iniesta

    Messi
    Ronaldo

    Tevez

Probably should have Cole/Evra left back but Bale should be in team so stuck him there. RVP and ZI close to Tevez as well but I think combination of those 3 would be lethal. For central midfielders I think currently Schweinsteiger and Van Der Vaart are close but you cannot separate Xavi and Iniesta at the mo.
For Tiote I am just biased but looking for competition for him at the moment is tough, he is playing better than Essien and Alonso at the moment. All the rest are fairly obvious I think.

I'd definitely have Pepe in there, Kompany is quality, but I reckon Pepe is having a whopper season. Considering he never used to start under Pelligrini, he's really taken his chance this time.

Their second goal was a cracker but his goal was down to awful goalkeeping

I think Pepe is the most complete centre half in the world.

Physically an absolute beast, so quick and strong and makes so many good tackles in and around the box. Its the speed that makes him that bit better than Vidic because otherwise they are pretty much very equal.

EDITED: Didn't notice 3 club rule

Alves' has to be in there tbh. 2 goals and 17 assists this season, Fabregas and Xavi would be lauded for those kind of stats ffs.

    Iker Casillas

    Alves
    Vidic
    Kompany
    Cole

    Nasri
    Busquets
    Xavi

    Messi
    Villa
    Ronaldo

Iniesta losing out to Nasri as I didn't want to be too Barcacentric. Don't know if Cole should be there either tbh, can't think of anyone else though.

Didn't read the OP properly, apologies!

It would essentially be a 4-2-3-1.

    Iker Casillas

    Alves
    Vidic
    Kompany
    Cole

    Busquets
    Alonso

    Nasri
    Messi
    Ronaldo

    Eto'o

    Nice balance tbh.

You could throw in Tevez/ Aguero/ Berbatov/ Ibrahimovic/ RVP/ etc up top, wouldn't make too much of a difference.

Between Busquets and Xavi for the midfield duo, I reckon Busquets and Alonso make a better pairing than Xavi and Alonso. (with Busquets and Xavi being the optimum :p but that doesn't keep up the 3 per club rule).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,912 ✭✭✭SeantheMan

Iniesta seems to be overlooked everywhere, first name on my list :D

    GK: Iker

    RB: Maicon
    CB: Vidic
    CB: Nesta
    LB: Lahm

    CM: Nasri
    CM: Xavi
    CM Fabregas

    AM: Messi
    AM: Ronaldo

    CF: Ibrahimovic

4-3-2-1-ish. With the two AM's going wide and swapping positions.

It's sort of how Milan play when Cassano and Robinho start together, both of them play behind Ibra, with one of them dropping deep and the other playing like a wing forward, but they switch sides and positions all the time. It works fairly well as the defenders don't really know who they are meant to be marking.

Messi and Ronaldo would be fairly good at that setup I reckon.

I couldn't pick betweeh Lahm and Maicon, so dropped Cole and picked both.

adhering to the 3 per team rule...

    Casillas
    Lahm
    Vidic

Can someone define "on form". Casillas? Schweinsteiger? Both had decent world cups but are far from the best in their positions since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,912 ✭✭✭SeantheMan

I've not seen much Football Italia this year, think its on ESPN, but going by posts Ibra must be on some form.

He always split people down the middle I found, some people think him amazingly gifted and strong, others think he's a lazy feck.

Only really get to see him in the Champions League this season, and he hasn't been a world beater by any means ?

I missed the 3-per-team rule, sorry.

My logic, re: Messi was that regardless of who he played for my 11 would likely beat them.

I'll post a revised team adhering to the rule.

    the rule didn't bother me.

a lot of teams have failed to do that.

Vidic in the team, fair enough, wouldn't argue.

    Nani, absolutely deserves his place.

Berbatov, not out of place and certainly arguable given some of his form this season.

but to even try and put Evra in this season is hilarious.

Rafael i would also argue strongly against. a great prospect no doubt, but he's not close to the best RB in the world yet.

but as you say it's your team :) i'm free to aim thinly (or not so thinly) veiled ridicule at parts of it though, especially since i'm nored and on a lunch break :D

Left back is a tough one at the moment. The two really outstanding ones, Cole and Evra are having poor seasons by their own standards. Abidal has probably been the best on current form but he misses out in all these team on the 3 player rule.

Why would he not be in?

simple, cos there are far better strikers in the world. as already said, Darren Bent has a similar record in poorer teams over the past 3 or 4 seasons. and he is just one player.

my team...based on what they can offer the team or simply, if i was a manager, who i would like in my team. Essian is having a poor season, but thats more about the team he is playing in rather than him, he is a super player. i would put VDS in as next keeper after casillas, they are the 2 best in the world IMO.

    Casillas

    Lahm Ferdinand Vidic Evra
    Iniesta Essian Xavi
    Schneider Ronalso Messi.

    Abidal is the obvious one.

Marcelo, IMO, is also having a good season.

has Antonini been particularly good for AC? i don't know.

if people want Xavi, Messi and one of Busquets and Iniesta, then maybe an option is to stick Lahm LB, and put Sagna/Zabaleta at RB.

tis a tough one, and i personally just plumped for Cole in the end, whose been just about the best of a mediocre bunch in the EPL this year. but i would argue he's done not a lot wrong, but the lack of verve to Chelsea's play has stunted the attacking prowess he's showed in abundance over the previous year or 2 in particular.

That's why I went for Contreau, if you are picking on form players he should be the left back. Same reason I didn't pick Casillas in my team, he has not had his best season. Not poor by a long shot, but still making little errors. Kompany is the only player I would seriously think about adding to my team. Basically just forgot him and went with Carvalho.
