    Hi,

I'll just cut to the chase here and hopefully someone can help me because I have very little knowledge about any of this..

Recently my power adapter for my HP Compaq 6735s stopped working and I was unable to turn on my laptop when it ran out of battery. The power specifications on the original adapter according to the back of the charger are as follows:

    INPUT - 100-240V ~ 1.7A 50-60Hz
    OUTPUT - 18.5V - 3.5A 65W.

So anyway I went and bought a replacement charger off the internet which was said to be compatible with my laptop the specs on this charger are:

    INPUT - 100-240V~1.6A 50/60Hz
    OUTPUT - 18.5V - 3.5A

This worked for about a half an hour perfectly until out of the blue it was as if the charger blew up.. there was a bang and it tripped a switch in the fusebox in the house and then it didn't work again once I flicked the switch on the fusebox..

Now, today I went to PC world to buy another new charger but I probably didn't ask the right questions or explain my situation correctly and I came away with another charger but I'm still pretty clueless, I haven't tried plugging it into my laptop yet, because I want to know whether or not it will work or if it will damage my laptop..

This charger is a LOGIK 40W Netbook power adapter, on the back of the box it says that it provides 40Watts of power with 19V DC. the AC input is 100~240V AC (50/60Hz) and the DC output is 19V DC (+/- 5%) 2.1A, 40W..

Can anyone help me out here and shed some light on this issue, will this charger be ok to use with my laptop or should I return it and get a new one?

Thanks in advance for any replies!
