Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My friend works for an organisation that has provided him with an email address. He can send and receive emails in outlook 2010 but cannot view older emails or see emails that he has sent from other computers. I think that blacknight is the hosting for the mailserver - I did a lookup.

Is there some settings on the mail server that are restricting people from viewing their older emails?

    Sounds like it's pop-mail.

This will download the mail to the local machine and remove it from the server. It stops the server from filling up with everyone's email that they don't want to delete.

An alternative would imap which downloads the mail to the local machine, but leaves it on the server so that it's accessible from anywhere.

He'll have to ask if they support keeping the mail on the server. They very well may not as storage==money!

Yes it is pop3 mail. But I have tried to use imap and it doesn't work.
Is there any other possible way this problem could happen?

It may be too late for his emails already downloaded on different machines (unless he wants to forward them all back to himself again!).

    Check this:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/leave-e-mail-messages-on-your-e-mail-server-HA001150793.aspx

Click on the link near the bottom:
    "+ POP3 e-mail accounts"
to see how to configure it to keep the messages on the server. He'll have to do this for each email client.

    Hope that helps further.

He should check how much storage he has online too. If he tries to keep them all and he fills it up then he'll stop getting new mails. He could forward them to a gmail account for archiving.
