A bit of help needed with a Citroen C5 please.

    A friend of mine recently picked up a second hand C5 and is having a small bit of bother with it, he asked me would i be able to have a look over it tomorrow and see if i could highlight any of the problem causes.

    its a 2002 HDi.

    from what he's said,

    the headlight main beams, seem to have a mind of their own, switching on and off as they please
    and the speedo doesn't work, however the odometer is still counting the miles.

    there's also a check light on the dashboard, but his english isin't great so he can't describe to me which. i dont imagine it will be obd-2 compliant, but is there a way to do a self diagnosis on citroens?

    basically im just throwing this out there encase either of these are common faults, and someone may be able to shed some general light on the situation before i go.
