    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what a good progesterone level on day 21 (actually got it done on day 22) is? It was 5 days before my period (which came 2 days early for some reason ).
My level was 41. I know this is ok, because my doctor said it showed i ovulated, but just wondering what the norm is? Like is it just ok, average or very good? Im wondering because she said i could get a 2nd test done this month if i wanted but said it probably wasn't necessary, so just want to know if this is only borderline good as then i would probably get another one done, otherwise i won't bother this month.
Thanks for any advice!! Its always welcome!!:)

I've been told that in order to have a normal pregnancy your levels on day 21 should be 15 or greater. Some bloggers have said theirs were as high as 80! Some higher levels indicate pregnancy, but not always. Your level of 40 is great.

    Hi dublinlady

Just in case you don't get answer i'll tell you what I know about these hormonal tests. I just had a day 3 test and my Prolactin level is too high.

Apparently they vary by lab as in which way they test them. If you google progesterone levels they are mostly in NG ML. To calculate the ng ml you have to use a formula. I found this SI unit conversion factor for example.

    Progesteroneng/ml3.18nmol/l

    Hi DublinLady,
I've just had my 2nd appointment with GYN, she did day 21 bloods the first day and my reading was 24.5. She said that normal levels were 20 but she'd like them up around 30 to be sure of success. She's given me 3 months clomid to bring them up. We're ttc for nearly 3yrs.

Yes, over 30 is positive for good natural ovulation. After that the higher the better.

Hi I know this is an old thread but wondering if anyone knows if progesterone level of 17 nmol/L on day 21 is good?

You should probably check with the doc but normally it needs to be above 30 to indicate ovulation. Below that indicates ovulation didn't occur. Don't panic though, some people don't ovulate every month!

It means you didn't ovualate yet. Do you have long cycles normally? I got tested again every 5 to 7 days until they see it start to go above 30. Mine usually go above 30 at around day 30-36.

Hi ye my last test was 18.6 and I just read "if >16 <30 may indicate controlled ovarian stimulation, refer to specialist" does this Clomid may be prescribed or something??? I have had consistently low progesterone over the course of 2 years which I'm thinking may be why I'm feeling so down all the time.

I am very nervous as my partner has a sperm count of 10 million and 4 million on two separate semen analysis tests which is too low to conceive naturally apparently. Now if I have a problem too I'm terrified we won't be able to ever have a child :(

Did they test later in the cycle as well or just day 21? You should get continuous tests every few days after day 21 until either the level increases above 30, or you get your period.

Sperm count can be increased, there are guidlines for that. Clomid can help with ovulation. There are lots of things that affect fertility and loads of them are easily treated. Getting the right diagnoses and treatment is the hard part.

Hey thanks for your reply, no they only did the day 21 test twice on two separate cycles. i WASN'T AWARE SPERM COUNT COULD BE INCREASED. oops caps sorry!!! The registrar for the fertility specialist basically said that we would be referred over to the HARI unity as my partners sperm count was only 4million, she was a little insensitive with her delivery to be honest, I was quite upset at having been told with a sledge hammer we would not conceive naturally

Hi guys I'm just looking for some feedback .trying for a baby just over two years now , discovered I wasn't ovulating with my progestrone level very poor at 4.6. I started on clomid 50mg in which the clinic I've been attending said I've responded very well to, had my day 21 bloods done this week to find my progestrone has dramatically gone up to 26 but according to the dr it's still not high enough needs to be 30 or over is there a chance I could be pregnant at this level ? Dr didn't seem to hopeful and suggested it's going in the right direction and wants to start me on clomid 100mg in the next cycle , feeling frustrated 🙈😒 wud love to hear some feedback xx

Heya, my first advice would be around the timing of the bloods. Day 21 could be too early or too late to see your proper peak depending on your cycle. I'd suggest temping to see your ov spike and then get bloods 7 days after that.

Assuming you have gotten your peak then 4.6 to 26 sounds like a great response. My GP used to tell me that 30 was the magic number but now I go to Napro and its 60 for them. I'd say track your cycle and follow their advice on increasing clomid. Good luck xxx
