Just wondering can any past/present student give me a personal insight into the course and answer some of my questions?

Hope you don't mind me asking a question or two, seems like the OP has disappeared. How many hours do you have a week? It the course difficult? Do you like the course? :)

What year? Just wondering about the work load, do you enjoy the course and I only have done biology for the leaving cert and pass maths would not having physics or chemistry or honours maths be a major disadvantage?

Hey, I'm in 1st year physio atm and I'm really enjoying the course. I didn't do physics for my lc but I did have biology and chemistry. In first semester you do chemistry, physics and biology modules. A lot of the stuff we covered in biology and chemistry was similar to the lc course so it is easier if you've done it before but definitely not essential. Your class is small and everyone knows eachother so everyone ended up helping out eachother when it came to trying to catch up on stuff you hadn't done before in school. As for the hours well first semester was fairly busy we had about 18 hours a week from what I can remember however second semester has been easy going, we have about 12 hours a week!

Hope this helps, if you have any more q's just mail me :)

Hiya Im 3rd year Physio in UCD.

The course is grand in first and 2nd year, but the 3rd year placements are really tough with you doing 16 weeks at once. Placement is tough, you work from 8.30 -4 in most hospitals. When you get home in the evening you really need to be studying for the patients you are going to see the next day or for the presentation/project they give you.

Then the 2nd half of 3rd year is really tough with 6 essays and 6 exams. Plus if you do a dissertation you need to start it over the summer as the hand in date is November/December. Also you do another 5 week placement in June.
After Christmas you are back out on placement for January and February. Then you have some accelerated modules and final exams in May.

So basically year one and two are fine, but from August after 2nd year you are flat out including summer months.

I also work part time and its really really tough at the minute.

Having said all that its a great course. Everyone is really friendly and all your class mates will help you out. The whole year gets very close with lots of socialising.
