......................Ohhhh I'm working on a really nice dock deal that would be ideal for a kitchen.....

I have a (very) few of these Pioneer docks (they are actually much more than a dock that I can do in advance of the main stock at the deal price of £99.95 that is less than 1/2 the original price (theye were originally £229.95)

The XW-NAV1 is much more than a dock as it includes CD/DVD player/ USB input, FM Tuner and built in speakers to be honest but it's still really compact..

It plays content from virtually any format.Connect your iPod/iPhone, portable music player, or USB storage device and traditional sources can be used as well. Listen to FM radio and insert CDs and DVDs. If you want MP3s after all, you can even rip audio CDs to USB (MP3).

    Video features
Connect your HD TV via HDMI and enjoy video from DVD, upscaled to 1080p (HD) for full-size viewing. Featuring Dolby Digital decoding with Virtual Surround, you even get a surround sound experience. Furthermore, you can watch videos from your iPod/iPhone via the composite video output.

    Keep me posted!

Thanks for getting back to me I will check the dimension however I think I may have an issue if it is a top loading cd. I plan to have this on top of the fridge but I only have about 12 to 14 inches available. It is an awful lot of bang for your buck though.

    Well...

As you can use the USB port to rip all your CD's - you can enslave the kids during mid-term to copy all your CD's and just use the USB port.... :D

    Hi Cionn

If you are looking for a very compact iPod only speaker dock check out this
    The DS3000
    ds3000_05__fv_.jpg

    full spec here
    http://www.philipsshop.ie/Spec%20Sheets/ds3000_05_pss_eng.pdf
This is a very compact iPod speaker dock that can run on mains power or batteries.
A nice touch it the FIDELIO app you can download from the Apple app store - this gives you a few EQ presets plus a 5 band EQ to adjust the sound of the dock with.

This unit isnt remote controlled - would that be an issue??

We have reduced this unit from €99.99 to only €59.99 and thety are in stock ready to roll

Another option along the same lines is this - its more powerful bigger bro, the DS8500

    It looks like.....
    ds8500_05__fv_.jpg
This is a more powerful sounding unit that produces a fuller sound.

Its mains only and again you can use the FIDELIO app with this unit.
It comes with a neat little remote control
its stands approx 16cm tall and 42cm wide so hopefully should fit over the fridge.

    Check out spec here
    http://www.philipsshop.ie/Spec%20Sheets/ds3000_05_pss_eng.pdf

This unit comes in at €199.99

Both are available and on display if you'd like a listen to them

Have a look at this link to our website
    http://www.philipsshop.ie/idockpage.htm

This will give an overview of other iPod docking systems should you like the idea of playing CD's - anything catches your eye just let me know

    Ashley & co

Thanks for the responses, I have had a think about the space I have available. I think my best option may be to go with a micro hi fi.

The space I have is about an inch shorter than an iPad ( my new measuring device)

I can position the speakers elsewhere so I am only concerned with the size of the base unit. The iPhone may need to go into a separate dock but I'm ok with that.

If you have anything suitable I would appreciate any suggestion.

    Thanks

    Cionn

    Nicola on behalf of Ash:

    Hey Cionn,

We have the DC146 which is 9" Height. (the ipad is 9.56") This would need about 2"s head room to put the CD into the top of the unit.

    Would this be too tall??

You can seperate the speakers which come with a 1.2 mtr wire to attach them to the main unit. You can check it out here - http://www.philipsshop.ie/idockpage.htm

Let me know what you reckon.

    Thanks a mil, Nicola.

Thanks for the reply I think at mig be a bit too high. I think a front loading cd is (or no cd) would be best. My criteria for height is key as is the item having a radio built in.

    Again thanks the search continues

    Nicola on behalf of Ash:

    Hey Cionn,

OK I have another suggestion. :)

Have a look at the DCB242. This is a handy little unit with an iDock and FM and DAB radio built in. 10W speakers and its only 3" high (8" with an iphone docked).

Its retailing at €99.99 instore at the moment.

You can have a looksee here - http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dcb242_05/dcb242_05_pss_eng.pdf

Let me know if this may end your search and I'll PM you a price.

    Thanks a mil, Nicola.
