Hi, my sister was living in rented accommodation for college in Maynooth with three other girls. Two of them were living there before she moved in. Since she has moved in she has been bullied and harrassed by the two girls that lived there who happen to be related to the third girl that she lives with. Because of this she had to move out because she couldnt handle it anymore. She reported the problem with the landlord (estate agent) who wouldnt believe her saying that she knows the two girls and they wouldnt do anything like that and that they should sort it out themselves.↲She has now got a place to stay on campus but the landlord is saying that she is in breach of her contract and she is not refunding her deposit or rent that has been paid for in advance. The landlord has also not registered her with P.R.T.B. Is this compulsory or at the landlords discretion? And has she any grounds for her money back or is it tough luck? Thanks in advance.

How much money was pain in advance? Are talking about a month, or longer?

unfortunate byproduct of moving in with housemates you dont know. Whilst what has happened to your sister sounds appaling fact is she didnt have to leave, and the landlord isnt responsible for managing the personal relationsships of housemates.

so ultimately she is bound by the rental agreement she made. so whatever is written into her tennancy agreement / lease will determine if she is entitled to something back.

by the sounds of it though she hasnt even given official notice to the landlord
