Thats brilliant feedback Monife! I got top band in Dublin but not for Swords so I'd say the Swords group are being done first by the sounds of things. Best of luck to all who were interviewed and fingers crossed I will be called for interview soon.

Yeah I think they are covering swords first. I am already working in the CSO in Swords and was advised to go for this competition because the panel may stay open for 3 years. I stupidly put Swords down even though I am already working there. Also put Dublin. I hope there isnt another interview for Dublin...

I know we are getting 31 new TCO's next week and some more the week after so these interviews are prob for that.

I wish I had been keeping an eye out on this thread! Sounds like I missed the deadline.

Yeah I guessed the Swords applications would be interviewed immediately wit the Census going on. When you say the panel may stay open for 3 years does that mean they do not plan to assess applicants again for 3 years but rather use people from this panel each year?

I have heard of people who achieved top band in two areas before having to attend two separate interviews.

Aw no are ya serious? I hope it is not this month. Have no annual leave left (leave year starts April) :(

Panel's usually stay open for a year and whenever a vacancy arises in a government department they go to that panel. With the way the country is, and not knowing what the new government is going to do, the lady in PAS advised me to go for it anyway as the panel could stay open for 3 years.

Did any else hear anything about an interview that got Dublin but not Swords?

  • Registered Users Posts: 367 ✭✭Phantasos

So, have all the candidates for Swords been selected now? Can I rule it out?

I got Kildare and only reserve for Swords & havent heard anything yet. I think they may be interviewing those for Swords first - Hopefully they will then come to us! Last year I was interviewed in Dublin for Kildare so asume the same this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭ourtrail

Yeah that is what I was thinking all right Mimojo. I got Dublin and reserve for Swords. Where was your interview last year held?

Phantasos you should have received an e-mail over a week ago letting you know the results of the assessment. Check your junk e-mail thats where my e-mail went.

I got a reply for another region (Top Band, yay!) but not for Swords. It just looks like the Swords candidates have been notified already. Maybe I'm being greedy, looking for another reply!

The emails were sent out on 31/03 last year to tell you if you were in the top band, so slightly later than this year. I then got an email on 15/04 inviting me for interview on 26/04. It was held in the Public Appointments Serive, Chapter House, 26-30 Abbey Street Upper. Its on the LUAS line so very handy to get to.
I got an email telling me I was success on 07/05 (By the way I don’t have a super memory, just never delete my emails!!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 367 ✭✭Phantasos

Yeah, I applied last year too and apart from my invitation to interview being on the 20th April, my dates are the same. But I'd imagine they are subject to change.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 222 ✭✭ourtrail

Thats great info Mimojo, jus trying to create an estimated rough time line for myself. What office were you assigned to last year?

Phantasos, you should have got a separate e-mail for Swords as well they were sent out last week as well but it does look like they have interviewed the candidates for Swords this week. Great that you got top band in another region though :)

No prob! I was offered an 8 week contract in Dept of Agriculture Naas last year in June. Didnt end up taking it as had found something else more longterm at the time.

Having being ranked top for both Swords & Dublin, was called for interview for Swords last week. Candidates are only entitled to 1 interview no matter how many areas they applied for so I asked at interview what chances of getting swords if successful as it would suit me better. The interviewer said she didnt think there were any places left but would put on my application it would be my preferred region. Cant understand why I was called for interview for Swords if no places were left......

it is for general dublin. i applied to swords and general dublin and i got an email telling me i am in reserve 2 for swords but in top band for dublin. then got an email telling me i have an interview this week.

It seems like if you get the interview, you get the job but im still a bit apprehensive about messing it up.

So il wear a suit and tie. cheers! any other interview tips for this particular job. good post from minojo about interviews.

Defo nice surprise! Fingers crossed you get the call about a job really soon. You were prob dead right applying for Dublin over Kildare, sure to be more jobs. Hopefully the fact they are interviewing so quickly means there is a job waiting for you!!

Be prepared to fill out a garda vetting application - make sure you know all your addresses for the past however many years. (Sorry, can't remember how many years it is.)

From birth. You need to fill out your addresses from birth to present with no gaps. Also, state any former names, give your date of birth, tick the conviction box and sign the back.

(Deal with GV forms in work)

anybody who went to an interview get this email?

"Thank you for attending your recent interview in connection with the above campaign. I am pleased to inform that you have reached the qualifying standard at interview.

We will be in touch with you shortly should your name come in line for a position."

I had my interview yesterday and got this today. Still a bit ambiguous with the last line but seems positive.

  • Registered Users Posts: 273 ✭✭rosiem

Thats the same email I got just assumed it was a standard email once successfull at interview.
There are no guaranteed jobs but am thinking that if you are on the panel this early you have to have a very good chance of a job offer that could take a few weeks though from what I've seen and heard a lot of jobs seem to start in June.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,488 ✭✭✭Denerick

I remember sitting an interview at the start of June one year for a position outside Dublin. I clearly remember it as I had an exam in the morning and had to break all sorts of speed limits to get to the interview. And I remember friends of mine doing interviews around this time of year, for Dublin. Is it reasonable to assume that the interviews for different parts of the country have not commenced yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,014 ✭✭✭Mimojo

Anyone get any word of an interview outside Dublin???

I hope I hear something soon!
