Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Did you create a password reset disk? if you did you can use that or if not you may have to restore to factory. I have heard about programs that do the job and remove your password but I honestly think they are viruses.

Can you give me the make and model of your laptop? I might be able to find you a solution.

boot into safe mode, use the Administrator account to log in (usually blank password) and reset it.

A Windows password reset disk could help reset the login password. Have another account?

+1 - Above link is a good option.
An alternative to the above link would be this (note that free version is not for 64-bit windows):

    http://www.piotrbania.com/all/kon-boot/

If you used EFS encryption (windows native encryption) neither this tool nor the one recommended by other posters above will allow you access those files. See link below or include in next post if you use EFS.

If you really need your old password you could look in to this:

    http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

Read all instructions carefully before you use any of the above systems to crack or bypass your password.

Just reformat? You can't have much on there that you can't afford to lose.

You might loose the ability to reinstall if you hadn't made the recovery disks and there isn't a bootable recovery partition ( how much does a recovery DVD cost ?? )

    Ophcrack could help.

if Windows 7 can see methods in this article: http://www.squidoo.com/top-6-windows-7-password-recovery-tips
