Have to say, if the NOTW are correct and he's only on 51k then no wonder he's tempted to go else where. VDV's on 79K, Modric should be on at least that... and keano's on more then Modric. FFS, enough said.

On the whole transfer request/strike thing... I doubt he's the sort of player to refuse to play or anything like that but if he does go down that route I would love to see DL/HR say fine ' bog of to the reserves, oh no wait we dont have resevers. You can scratch your arse for 6 months'

Lets see how keen he is to strike in January.. half a season before the EC.
He had plenty of competition for his place in the national team too and he wont be long changing his mind after 6 months of zero football.

He only signed a new contract a few months ago. I am sure he knew how much other players were on then also. What has happened in those few months? He obviously has been tapped up. All his bs about wanted to play in the champions league really p8sses me off. Its all about the money. Well I know he is a decent player but if he doesn't want to play for Spurs anymore and would rather play for one our our local rivals then f*ck him. Sell him for as much as we can and then reinvest all the money in a world class striker. I would rather Levy breaks our wage structure to go after Eto'o. I am sick in all this Littke Luka is not that type of man, he would never say he wants to leave, he wants to leave us as friends ( thats a new one)- well unless he comes out and clears up his comments or retracts them I am afraid he is just as bad as Berba.

Modric is expected to clarify in his statement that he does not have his heart set on a move to Chelsea – just that if Spurs agreed a deal with the club he would be prepared to go. Sources at Tottenham have said that regardless of what Modric said over the weekend, he is not in the frame of mind to go to war with the club to force a move.

Oh and VDV is actually on an 11m four year deal which works out at 54,000 per week he said as much when he signed said he was delighted with it. Keane as far as I know possibly along with Jenas are two of our highest earners.

Rumour knocking around that we're very far down the line with a deal for Gary Cahill.

Which is exactly why we need to get rid of them.

thought i read somewhere last summer that the main reason we wouldnt sign van nistelrooy was cos he wanted 100k a week and that keane had in his contratc that he has to be the highest paid player at the club so he would automatically be given the rise in wages.

    anyone confirm or deny this?

very starnge to put something like this in a players contract

Good. Thats a step in the right direction.
Bassong to get shipped out as soon as we get a new CB in.

Wouldn't mind Bassong going in a deal for Cahill but Kaboul could really be an excellent player he was brilliant in the champions league for us.

I really hope this doesn't materialise. Another vastly overratted, overpriced, overhyped English player..:(

I had hoped he'd get a run at the team but O'Hara is maybe a little out of his depth going for top 4 finish.

He's a great signing for wolves IMHO.

Heard it mentioned on a website that this could be considered one of the few transfers that actually pleases both clubs and the player too. Good luck to him!

Modric bumped up to 75K a week too apparently. Also linked with Benzema.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,459 ✭✭✭T-b0n3

Yea I'm glad for both Wolves and O'Hara. Always liked him, hope he does well there.

And hope the news about Modric getting more money is true. He defo deserves it.

I love if we got the dead wood (Jenas/Bently/Pal/Bassong/Robbie etc) shifted asap so we can start getting in some good players and getting them off the books. Costing us a fortune in wages for little to no return.

I think Levy is right to say Luka isn't for sale at any price. Even if we got 60m for him (which isn't gonna happen) I would still see it as a loss to the club. We would be left with lots of money to spend but, without Champions League football or huge wages, players of Luka's calibre will not join us. Thus, he is in effect, irreplaceable.

We would end up having to replace him with Parker or Adam or Cole or all 3. Not awful players, but a big step down from Luka.

Personally I wouldn't mind us signing Parker as a squad man anyway. Jack Rodwell would be an exciting signing mind.

Benzema would be a great signing for Spurs but I think it's unlikely he will leave Madrid.
An upgrade at the striker position is definitely in order for Spurs this summer IMO. It will be interesting to see what calibre of player they can get in - they've a higher profile now after the CL campaign, but the downside is that they can't offer CL football next season.

Ya we have been linked with Benzema which is the type of player we need to bring in to show our ambition. Also Real have been linked with a number of striking signings which would mean their won't be room for him in the Real 25 man panel.

Deals for Palacios (Napoli), Jenas (Fenerbache) and Kranjcar (Kiev) on the cards, along with the confirmed departure of O'Hara to Wolves.

Parker must be on his way and we surely have a few quid in fees and wages to land a quality striker or two?! Now to shift Robbie...!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,744 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Villas-Boas - "no major changes at chelsea needed".

Hopefully that means no new Modric bid.

As long as we sign another holding midfielder in case Sandro gets a long term injury!

If we shift all 4 midfielders and 1 of our strikers then thats a huge load off the books.

Get rid of the 3 and replace with Parker, good stuff. Still a bit pissed to be losing Niko, especially with Pienaar still on the books as I feel he'd score more than the ex-Everton man, but whatever.

We have yet to put a bid in for parker and we have been tipped to pick up another brazillian as well so it could be him instead of Parker Casermio or something I can't remember would prefer to have a youngster as back up to Hudd and Sandro than someone like Parker who might stunt Sandro's growth

James McCarthy might be worth a punt? he's like a young Frank Lampard.

I'd like to see us try a few punts as backup. After Gallaa doing well since he came in even a few older players with a couple of seasons left.

Dunno, he's getting on a bit now. We'd probably get one good season out of him, which might be enough to get us into the CL again, but his wages would be very high. Good player though.

He would have been a great signing in January, really would have helped us out of a jam. The future is different now and he'd be a bad signing.

The wages would be huge I'm sure though. We'd need to clear some people out before we could get him in I'm sure.
