he would be very good for 5 million, not big money

Yeah he would be a good option for 1 or 2 years. Ideally I'd like to sign a promising young striker to develop for a season behind him.. maybe Leandro Damiao or Wickham?

Just some some random gossip I hope....
    SPURS TO SELL SANDRO?
Another tale of a club somewhat bizarrely getting rid of quite a good midfielder now, and The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs are thinking of flogging Sandro to Villarreal.

The paper claims the Spanish side (which they rather confusingly describe as 'wealthy') will make a £12million offer for the midfielder, and Spurs are considering selling up.

Quite why, we don't know, but who are we to question the infinite wisdom of the tabloid press...?

Oh, wait, the story is written by Alan Nixon.
    Draw your own conclusions.

I would actually cry if we sold him. Especially for 12million. Sandro was unbelievable for us towards the end of the season. Expecting a lot from him next season.

He's also in the Brazilian squad for the Copa America, so might get to see some more of him then, its starts on the 1st on July.

The two key words in that story are "Alan Nixon" - Sandro is worth more than £12 million in any case and I'd imagine that bigger clubs than Villarreal would be in for him.

Looks like we're not going to be buying anyone until we ship off some players.

Chelsea are coming back for Modric and looking to sign Bale also in a double swoop for 60m its been reported this morning.

Yesterday in a few papers Bale was quoted as saying he's off if the club sell Luka.

Wont be easy to get rid of some of them as they are on big money. We will also have to take a serious hit on the transfer fees.

    O'Hara out so far.
Keane (Blackburn) and Giovani (Sevilla) linked with moves today.
    Palacios rumoured to be Napoli-bound.
Hopefully Jenas and Bentley will be gone soon.
Kranjcar seems to have a few admirers (Kyiv and Bremen)
Hutton is surely up for grabs, as seemingly is Bassong. Defoe could be available too.

Hopefully we can get shot of at least 75% of those.. that would get a lot of wages off the books and also bring in some additional transfer funds.

Some of those players I'd keep. I've always been a big Kranjcar fan especially.

I agree, and cannot understand how he got on the team on the left ahead of Pienaar. Outside that, I always thought Bassong looked decent, though if we replaced him with better I wouldn't complain.

I'd love to keep Kranjcar but I don't think we'll stand in his way if a reasonable offer comes in. Bassong is in a similar situation - he is well down the pecking order at CB, with Dawson, Gallas, King and Kaboul ahead of him and a new CB probably to be signed this summer.

I'd rather keep Pav than Defoe.. he seems more content to be a back-up and he is more effective as an impact sub than Defoe. However £13 million would be a very good price for him.

Think this is the quietest period you guys have had in the transfer market for quite some time. nothing big happening in or out?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,099 ✭✭✭gar

normally all the carnage happens in the last 2 days which i think is a bad thing

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭mickman

i dont think harry will let it go until the last minute hopefully

players and managers should be back in next 2 weeks so should kick off then

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭wellboys

He international transfer window opens tomorrow, so it should heat up from there and then really kick off from when players and managers are back ( I think it's around the 6th of july)

Hopefully nothing big happens in the "out" column for the whole summer. We are trying to get rid of a few squad players before bringing in anymore bodies.

Linked with llorente today for 20m

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Would be a great deal to get him at that price, but i'd say we'll need to ship off 2 strikers before we can get him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭golfball37

Taraabt is going to PSG for 13.5m. Levys only real mistake in the transfer market in terms of selling players. Lets hope we have a sell on clause?

I read today that the Llorente deal will not be sanctioned until 2 of the current 4 strikers are off the books. I can't see him joining us in any case.
