I'd take Ade with open arms at this point to be honest. Ade,VDV,Bale and Modric are great options to have up there. If we can get Defoe at 75% of his best I don't see it being a bad season.

I would have loved Diarra but sure what can you do?

The mail says the german left footed midfielder who was with west ham last season is training with us hitzwhatever... probably nothing in it.

Think I saw on SSN earlier that he's signed for Wofsburg?

BBC reporting Spurs may be willing to sell modric.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,421 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

    Modric may be going....

Anyone know how far Loftus Road is from WHL..... ;)

I don't believe the rumours (it's the Daily Mirror after all, not the BBC), but if there is any truth to it

If we sell Modric at this stage, i ****ing give up. What the hell would be the point in going on and on about not selling him, only to sell him once the season has actually started? It's not like we need the money, since we're not going to be buying the 30 mill striker that we need.

Seriously pissed if there's anything to those rumours (which i doubt).

    Seems to be everywhere:

I guess were trying to leverage as much out of Chelsea as possible, rumours of £27m, plus Benayoun & Kalou...

PS. I'd imagine this is why Luka is not playing tonight:-
"UEFA club football regulations state that, with very few exceptions, players who play in a European Club competition are subsequently cup-tied with respect to all European football for the remainder of the season"

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,421 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

    Benayoun and Kalou

Give us Cech and Terry...then maybe

100% correct - Luka picks up a mysterious injury the day before a Euro tie. He's going lads, for sure. How many times have we seen this before?? Levy has just been trying to work the best deal all summer.

Feckin Yossi Banayoun, KEEP NIKO ffs!!!!

If we're going to sell him to chelsea it has to be sturridge or drogba +cash.. not kalou or yossi that would be a terrible deal for us.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

One way or another, it has to be done this week. Either tell him he's staying, or let him go. Selling him any later then this week would be stupid, and would leave us up **** creek without a suitable replacement.

    Bah! Double post.

sturridge and say £20m and I say get rid. I agree though that this hard line approach will not only make us look like tools but is really silly business.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,994 ✭✭✭KingdomYid

Wish Harry would shut the fcuk up. He is basically asking Chelsea to put in a higher bid  Then again this could have been the plan all along, now Levy can say Harry wanted to sell to improve squad blah blah. Same sh*t different August :(

Also he probably wants Parker and sees this as the only way of getting him. He says we can get 4 players for the money. I dont think you can get 4 class players for 35 odd million????

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

I have to agree. Either this was the plan all along or Redknapp and Levy aren't seeing eye-to-eye, which is a bigger problem. If they aren't seeing eye-to-eye, perhaps Levy isn't sanctioning any money for him to spend as he believes he'll be gone at the end of this year. If this is the case, we may not sign anyone, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Harry sacked at some stage this coming season. Plenty of talk about Levy liking Ancelotti, who as luck would have it is unemployed and could join immediately. Granted these are typical rumours but you'd never know.

Either way, Harry should shut up. When asked about Modric, just use the same quote each time. Don't make it seem that the club/manager/director are on different pages, it just fuels speculation, which in turn disrupts the team. This crap will continue into the weekend and the hype around Modric on Monday (will he/won't he play/be sold/be injured) will increase the chances that the team will suffer another crap result against a significantly weakened Utd team.

Get on with the football

In fairness, Harry keeping silent on modric would also send the media into a frenzy...they'll grasp at the shortest strings to sell papers, fook the majority of the printed football stories are made up anyway.

See it's not so much about keeping quiet, it's about sticking to your guns and everyone at the club being on the same page. If Redknapp is saying one thing and Levy is saying the other, something is wrong. All Redknapp has to say is that the chairman has said he's not leaving, and that's it. If pestered, just repeat this line until they get bored of asking the question.

I like Harry and I usually like his media interaction, but what he's said today is wrong and has the potential to completely disrupt the start of our already disrupted season.

I have no problem with the hard ball stuff providing Levy holds his nerve and keeps to his word. What will make us and Levy in particular look like tools is if/when Modric moves this transfer window.

If he does go, it's basically a message of 'we'll sell any player if you offer enough' to all the clubs for any future gems we have.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,162 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Also, apparently we're still in for Diarra.

Diarra, is he any good? I mean, the only club he got regular game time was pompey?

Twitter says niether Adebayor or Diarra are the speciall player we are in negotiations for ...... Didn't know we were looking at any "special players"

Sorry man, its not in any of the main sources yet, its just knocking around other forums.

    No reliable sources yet....
    http://www.spurs-web.com/spurs-news/spurs-announce-transfer-deals-evening/?

But here's hoping, I actually think an 'in-form' Adebayor could score goals in abundance for us, the amount of spurned chances between Pav/PC/JD last season was criminal.

And more typical Spurs summer speculation, 1 simple tweet and we have Messi/Eto'o/Falcao arriving the weekend;)
