If Villa would come it would be a great signing for us. He has won everything there is to win for club and country. Spains record goalscorer. Three years ago he was worth €40m.

Mostly a sub this season and he still scored 15 goals. I'd bite your hand off!

I agree, buy him. It could be the best 10 million ever spent. If it goes wrong so be it, we are not talking 30 to 40 million. Thirty one is not fukn ancient, remember Sheringham?

That's just it. Let's say he comes and is a bit of a let down only scoring just the dozen goals next season nobody could blame us for trying bit he was in the top 5 strikers in the world not that long ago and if we sign him anywhere near at that level it will the best bit of business we've done in years. No down side to it IMO

I don't know if it is idle speculation or not but I would jump at the chance of signing Villa. He has still scored goals this year and is still working himself into positions even though he is not getting the reward. I saw a Barca game recently where he must have had half a dozen clear-cut chances and everything that could have gone wrong did but he stuck at it and scored eventually. Then he was substituted.

His confidence is on the floor and I think the guy needs a break way from the Nou Camp pressure cooker. Two years ago Barca were unstoppable because Villa would score if Messi didn't. It is a gamble that he would recapture that kind of form but at £10M plus wages versus likely CL qualification if he scored 15-20 goals it isn't a huge gamble.

If Villa is a possibility I don't see how Cavani isn't.

Well apart from his £40 - 60m price tag and his £150 - 200k a week wage demands, he has some of the richest and best clubs in Europe after him.

    He won't be choosing Spurs.

Villa is older, cheaper, lower wages and lower demand.

It certainly has changed a bit in the last 2 seasons.

I know he has had injury trouble so it's understandable, and maybe he is still top class.....but maybe he isn't.....could go either way in my opinion
I watch quite a lot of Barcelona games, the man rarely misses good chances. He just doesn't seem to get into the right positions enough, whether that's to due with tactics or confidence I don't know, but he certainly still has a lot to offer, just perhaps not at the very top level. He would be excellent for Spurs, but I don't see it happening.

caulker, vert,Dawson and kaboul we've enough at centre half i think. 2 midfielders and at least one striker. maybe a right full too

Adam Smith has been doing alright on loan. Wouldn't mind seeing him around the first team next season.

Kyle naughton too but id like someone to push walker. his defending can be very poor at times

he gets turned inside out too much.number 1 job of a defender is defending.avb might drill that into him though.bales agent saying he'd talk to Madrid if the two clubs agreed a fee.it'd be an honour!great

Walker could really go either way, he could kick on and learn to do the basics well or he could just become a liability.

The thing about him is, even though he is very fast, he doesn't offer much going forward, not a good crosser and rarely beats a man.

But he is young and the best could be yet to come.

hopefully he'll kick on. lennon has improved his crossing, though still not fantastic,it has gotten better. i think walker looks best on the counter, running full pelt either through the middle or out wide.not the best trait for your full back though!!!

If we're up against Chelsea we're not going to win, plus I could only see it happening if Bale goes.

Less of a chance of him going to Monaco now they've signed Falcao I reckon.

If Chelsea sign Cavani there'll be top many options in Attack for them to want Hulk though.. Although, they might just buy up all the competition..

So I thought UEFA were introducing this Fairplay thing... Surely Monaco are breaking rules at this stage?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

I could think of at least a dozen clubs who would be ahead of us in the queue to sign Hulk. Even if he did play for AVB befoe we haven't a snowballs chance in hell of signing him.

Ah but Monsieur Plantini didn't expect any French clubs to be breaking the rules, did he? Expect absolutely nothing to happen.

David Bentley, William Gallas, Emmanuel Adebayor, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Jake Livermore, Tom Huddlestone and Heurelho Gomes could all leave Tottenham this summer as the club look to cut their wage bill to fund a new deal for star winger Gareth Bale, 23, who is wanted by Real Madrid.[Daily Mail]

I think we all knew most of this already though... Certains would be Gomes, Gallas & Bentley for sure..

    Daily Fail running blind again.

No source, no quotes, no news, just a general run through of players who didn't shine last season. Bound to be right about a few of them of course.

AVB has already said he's keeping Benny.

I would have thought Benny would be the first to go. He is a liability and quite limited going forward.
