I see the BBC and the Daily Mail are linking us to Higuain this morning, pipe dream I know especially with the money teams ala man city interested too.

I hope we get a relpacement though .. its not like there is alot of players out there that are of enough quality to oust Sandro from the holding role but if we lost Sandro to injury I'd be a bit concerned if we had no decent replacement.

... also this move makes a move for Parker all the more likely now.

Internacional striker Leandro seems to be headed for WHL. He's been on the radar for the last few months and is a really good prospect, 22 goals in 24 games. Sandro is great mates with him and was back in Brazil to meet his old team mates last week so it looks like he put in a good word!

If Sandro has a new pal it could see Gomes leaving?

Parker deal should be wrapped up soon.

Edit: Rumours this evening Drogba is our main target but wages are a stumbling block. e'll have to break our structure to land him. He's on 180k atm. No way would he drop to 70k just to play for us?

Anyone know what this lad Leandro is like? I know nothing about him at all, I'd feel more comfortable with a striker that's played in europe already, just hope he can make the transition as well as Sandro did.

12m euro bid rejected by internacional for 70% of Leandro Damiao rights the player owns the other 30%. Their president says he won't leave until the end of the year and for more money than that. But it was the first offer they got.

I reckon we could get him for 15 but I think they will want to keep him until the end of there season like with Sandro

I'd go for that, I think they're out of the big cup competition in South America? The Sandro deal was stalled until they were knocked out but they went on to win it! We could push to take him immediately I reckon?

Not feeling very enthused by the early transfer rumours.

Drogba sure, but he's not exactly the bright and brilliant future of Tottenham, is he?

Players linked so far seem like gap-fillers, as per previous seasons.

4th place will be a much harder prospect from now on, since Man City joined the fray.

What's not to like about Drogba? I'd cream in my pants if we we're to sign him.

fridal has signed. very solid keeper in fairness.

friedal, Parker, Drogba.... all this talk of these transfers sums up for me Redknapps attitude. He is signing players who are past their best who could do a job for a season before he takes over at england.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

If these players helped us back into 4th spot at the end of next season their signing would be seen as a masterstroke. Harry leaves, a new coach comes in with Harry not having spent a huge amount of money, meaning (hopefully) the new coach would have a few quid to spend.

I'd love Drogba at Spurs. Friedel is a good buy too as he doesn't make mistakes. He might not be as good as Gomes at making amazing saves, but he does the basics right and we'll concede less goals overall because the defence will have faith in him.

And if we get rid of Palacios, Parker would be perfect replacement. Our centre midfield options would then consist of Parker, Sandro, Modric, and Thudd, leaving aside Jenas. There's plenty of bite there, maybe lacking a little creativity if Modric isn't there, but I'd be very happy with it.

    We still need strikers though!!

That note very positive mister positive note :D

To be fair I agree with superSi - if they get us 4th then who cares how old they are (as long as they dont long contracts).

Last summers signing of Gallas turned out to be excellent, hopefully Friedal and Drogba will be similar. (Didnt Drogba come into the game late? There might be a few years left in him yet).

Well said mate, their experience would be important and if it gets us 4th place back, then these signings would be justified.

    ..and woodgate

    .. and Gio

    .. and King :(

Heavily linked with Drogba again today and for an improved bid for Leandro Damiao

Villa are supposedly interested in Bently and QPR are interested in Jenas and Bassong while we haven'tbeen able to agree a fee for Palacios with Napoli they offered 10 and we're looking for 12-14m

5 for Jenas and bently 8 for Bassong plus 10 for Palacios would be a nice kitty 28m should easily get both Leandro and Drogba. I'll be watching the Brazil game tonight to see how he plays he's meant to start!

This would be immense! Drogba still has another couple of years at the top and if Leandro has half the potential that sandro has shown we could be on to a winner.

Must give him a look, whats the details for the brazil game?

Defoe linked with Gunners! Stranger things have happened...

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭wellboys

Defoe to Arsenal I can't see? Joe Cole to us could be on the cards?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Don't want that useless lad anywhere near Spurs. He turned us down to go to Liverpool and it hasn't worked out, good luck to ya. Defoe to Arsenal would never happen - what does he have that Van Persie doesn't have?

I wouldn't touch Joe Cole with a barge pole.. we are trying to get rid of overpaid bench-warming wasters and not add another one of them to the ranks!

Today we have been linked with Roma striker Mirko Vucinic, as well as an improved offer for Leandro. Scott Parker also seems to be on his way once the Palacios to Napoli deal is done.

re: Joe Cole ... I still think HR's daft enough to go for him again.

If we lose Modric and/or Bale and Joe Cole is signed as a replacement then I'll tear up my imaginery season ticket.

Absolutely, and will forever forget that I supported Spurs. This is a nightmare scenario, but hopefully Modric will stay at Spurs and Joe Cole will assist in Liverpool's end of 2011 season form continuing into 2012!

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭wellboys

I would even waste my time with Joe Cole, but we do know Harry thinks the sun shines from his a**e.. Niko is a much better player than him, but he wants out. Cole said no to us because he was offered more money, and now he'll be back with his tail between his legs. Levy should tell him where he can go. Vucinic looks like a great player, definitely up our street.

What does everyone think of signing experience before youth? Harry for the experience but Levy looking for youthful players. Will more depth and experience i.e Friedel, Parker, Drogba help us regain 4th?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Heavily linked with Cole again this morning.
    - Mail on sunday and Sky Sports News

There's no way he worth the kind of wages he asked for and got @ liverpool.

    Vucinic I'd be happy with.

    Rossi back on the radar?

    http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news...cle744412.html

Tottenham will this week make a renewed bid for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The 24-year-old hit man scored 32 goals for his club last season – and he is the number one target on Tottenham’s wanted list.

Rossi is valued at £25 million by the Spanish club and Tottenham baulked at that initial valuation. They offered some £10 million less.

But they are set to go in with a renewed bid of around £20 million and are hopeful of landing their man.

Rossi joined Villarreal from Manchester United for £6.6 million four years ago after he failed to establish himself as a first team regular at Old Trafford.

He had loan spells at both Newcastle and his first club, Parma, before moving permanently to Spain.

His career has really taken off in the Primera Liga and he is now a regular member of the Italian squad.

He scored on Friday night in the 3-0 win over Estonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is hoping that his chairman Daniel Levy wil be able to negotiate a deal acceptable to Villarreal.

His arrival could herald the departure of England front man Peter Crouch and both Fulham and Stoke will be keen to sign him.
