    Cole from Pool for £3m.
Shawcross swap with Bassong plus cash..

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

As you can tell, I'll be very pissed if we take Cole from Liverpool, and even more pissed if we pay money for him! Rossi would be good though and would allow us to get rid of Defoe as he's a better version of him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Shawcross may be better then Bassong but he's not good enough. We need someone as good or better then Dawson. We want someone as good as King in his prime (minus the injury stuff obviously).

I hope we don't sign cole. He turned down champs league with us last year cos of his greed and made a mess oh his career. No way would I take him now

Looks like the Cole rumour was indeed just a rumour, its been verified by his agent that Spurs have not been in contact....thank the Lord...

Thank you jebus, possibly the most overrated ****bag going!

Thank f**k Cole is nowhere near WHL.. Talk of Hazard this evening but we maybe not pursue because Harry would pursue N'Zogbia because of his PL experience.

Expect O' Hara gone in the next few days.

A cryptic clue given too.. "Yellow and Blue"..

Anyone have a crack at what it could mean?

Some dude called POTL apparently on another forum (found it with a quick google)
POTL in thread on COYS about QPR bidding for Jenas & Keane...

No truth in this. No enquiries from QPR.
    Joe Cole story- utter rubbish
O'hara deal imminent- contract agreed Friday.

    Blue and Yellow.

    POTL

I think he claims to be an insider at WHL

And the money is on Blue and Yellow being a reference to Green :(

Oh, blue and yellow are the colours worn by the Brasil national team so it could be Leandro.

hoping that the Cole rumours are just that, bbc gossip column has it again today, a total flop at liverpool and so injury prone, wouldnt want to see him at the lane except as a spectator

  • Registered Users Posts: 191 ✭✭wellboys

    The Hulk is green!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭mushykeogh

Christ, i hope those Cole rumors are way off the mark, a disaster if we signed him!

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

They seem to be. Plenty of reports that there is no interest from Spurs so I wouldn't worry about.

Not really Spurs related but Martin Jol got the gig a Fulham. Wouldnt mind seeing him back at WHL one day.

why? he got 5th two years in a row and then had a terrible start to the next season.

didnt exactly set the world alight

I'd have no problem him coming back as a coach. Just not as the main man.

In fairness, he did well with us, and the masterplan that was put in motion when he left didn't exactly work out !

  • Registered Users Posts: 242 ✭✭tomo75

I don't think he got a fair crack at the job. Commilli (spelling) was up to no good and had Levy's ear. The first thing HR did when he took over was get him out. I think if BMJ was let buy the players he wanted we would have got 4th. I think the Fulham job will test him as there is very little money to spend there. I hope he does a good job for them.

PS. I admired him even more after he squared up to Wenger. I think Wenger would be out cold after a punch from BMJ. :D:D:D

Delighted to see the Big Man back.
    Best of luck to him.
He was treated very badly by Levy and Co.
That's the game I'm heading to next season if I have the money!
Fulham have got a goodun in Martin and if Chris joins them they will be no push over.
    Roll on the new season!
    When are the fixtures out?
Really hope we sign Shane Long. Raw talent.

I have to laugh - Liverpool pay £20 million for a propsect from Sunderland, and all the rags were claiming that Modric would leave Spurs for the same figure. I know Henderson is English, but Modric is a far better and proven midfielder than him and if he were to go, it couldn't be for less than £30 million based on those valuations. He's not going anyway so it's a moot point.

The prices being paid for English potential is just ridiculous. £35m for Carroll, £20m for Henderson, £19m for Phil Jones (if he goes)?!! Is it like this in Spain or Italy where home-grown players values are almost double those of non-nationals?

In comparison to the previous 4 or 5 managers he did. We played some good stuff under Jol and for me he laid the foundations for us getting to champs league.

I think he was badly treated by Commolli, Levy and Mr Berbatov.
I will never forget being at the 125th anniversary game against villa, my favourite game of the Jol era!

Always thought Jol was tactically lacking. Every game we start at home at 100 mph and hope to get ahead. If we werent ahead after 30 minutes we struggled. He was badly treated but I think it was to gamble on Ramos moving the squad on. Finishing 5th second time round on paper yes but we never had the remotest chance of getting into the champions league that season.
