Manchester City are asking for £6m for Aleksandar Kolarov with Galatasaray in pole position. [Manchester Evening News] #MCFC

I know a lot of people want a new LB brought in. What's peoples opinion on Kolarov? Would he be an upgrade on what we already have?

If we do get someone we would need to let one of Rose or Benny go.

I was mainly referring to Defoe and Ade's magnificent combined total of one since Soldado hasn't been signed (yet!). With Bale supplying crosses I'd say i'd be good for a half dozen headed goals myself.

Always thought he was solid, can't remember what he's like for pace.

Napolia signed Higuain & Jackson Martinez for €40m EACH..
there goes 2 more of our options if the saldaldo deal (probably) falls through :-(

The cnuts. would love to have seen us make a move for Martinez. 40M is pretty steep though.

He's probably better going forward than defending but is he better than BAE... i would say yes, always liked him myself. He may stunt the progression of Rose though.

I think both teams did very well out of Napoli. Higuain is a good striker, but not worth more than €25m. I know less about Martinez, but one good season in the Portugese league and getting €40m for him?! Just shows how inflated prices become after you sell a player for a lot of money...

Rose did very well for Sunderland last year and I still think BAE has a lot to offer. I think we're OK in the LB position, particularly with having Vertonghen as further cover.

I'd like to see Rose push BAE for a first team spot and see if we can get even more out of both of them.

I rate Kolarov very highly, very dependable LB and I'm surprised City are letting him go.

They got Albiol too for 11m euro, tidy bit of business there.

yep, which is why we could be waiting to announce bales sale until after we buy soldado :-)

What's that - about £5-6 less than Solando.
Would he get 20 a season? With 30 games, yeah he prob would.

I think I'd be happy with that. He's another finisher who I don't feel has had a proper chance to shine for City

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,010 ✭✭✭slegs

Me too. He is quality. Could never understand why he wasn't a more regular starter at City. Every time I saw him play he was dangerous. Scored a lot of goals for them from the bench

What kind of wages is he on at City?

    120k a week was mentioned

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

Well he must want a move because Aguero, Negredo and Jovetic will be ahead of him. He should have signed for us two years ago when he had the chance!

    He's on £120k a week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

I reckon he'd be a cracking signing. His stats at Hamburg are very impressive. I certainly wouldn't be offering him huge wages. £120k would honestly be the Max I'd want to see us paying him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,010 ✭✭✭slegs

City pay crazy wages to everyone - arent many clubs who can match that. I imagine we would be paying him at the top end of our pay scale but not more than 80-90k a week

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,290 ✭✭✭Leinstersqspur

He was rumoured to be taking a pay cut to move to Dortmund a while back. We all know his quality after he banged in four against us. He'd be a great signing!

Spurs Community: We are in pole position to get Soldado and hope to be able to announce, at very least, as soon as Saturday, that an agreement is in place. If Soldado trains on Saturday the things change and we may forfeit the first refusal agreement we have in place with Valencia

@crackersTHFC: Had 3 seperate people tell me there has been positive progress with the Soldado talks. This does NOT mean its done, but good news hopefully.

Fcuk Dzeko, he clearly has buckets of talents but he's a lazy bollocks. He also gives off the impression that he thinks the world revolves around him. Not convinced about him by any means. Think all the clubs energy should focused intently on Soldado. He's the man.

It also says they haven't made a bid, so what have they done, thought about it? Don't take much to make a story these days

Which is absolutely nothing because it's a nothing newspaper. The Times isn't exactly reliable either. And, with all due respect, if Liverpool are our only contenders for Soldado then we can afford to dither. Liverpool is no longer an attractive proposition for foreign players, for British and Irish players it may be, but not for players from the continent, especially with AVB at the helm.

Sounds like a certain striker we already have in our ranks..

This year has been the worst on record for inaccurate reporting on players, it's gone into hyperdrive. There's gossip and then there's gowl, twitter is as reliable as a used tampon.

AVB on sky now saying spurs are in talks with bale on a new contract

Reports now though say that spurs have valued bale at 120 million and madrid havent baulked at that price. If they offer that then we have to sell ???

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

I think you'd have to sell him if an offer came in for £100m+ we couldn't replace him but we could replace a couple of "good" players like JD with title winning players.

A part of me is thinking is the Dzeko talk there to make our hand stronger trying to sign Soldado
