Very surprised we sold Caulker. He was a bit rough around the edges, but with some experience he could be a quality defender. I can only guess he requested a move, as i don't see the point in selling him otherwise.

As for Bale...i'm sick of this ****. Someone needs to make an official statement at this stage.

You know what I want to hear? That Levy is threatening legal action over this clear tapping up.

newstalk were saying that ancelotti came out yesterday and said they made a verbal offer and there was no written one. Dont know where this came from

Its also possible that Levy got the phone call with the verbal offer and said "no way, he is not for sale" and that has actually been the end of it.

Levy may have told bale he is not going anywhere this year and that was it.

Maybe there is nothing going on at the lane with regards to bale!

Radio reports today saying Madrid in talks with Bale referencing quotes from Ancellotti except those quotes were saying Madrid were in talks about Bale which are 2 very different things.

I actually very much believe this. Everything so far has been hype. If you look at every single piece of information that has come out in the media so far, there has been no substance.

For example, SSN had a 'Just in' interview with Kaka who said "Bale would be welcomed at Real Madrid" - who gives a fook!!! If you did the same interview with one of the Kidderminster Harriers players he'd say "Bale would be welcomed at Kidderminster Harriers". Hype. B0llox!

Oh, and as for the Ancelotti quotes. He said, "Bale is in talks with his club about a solution".

Why can't te media read that as, Bale is in contract talks with his club - that's how I read it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,375 ✭✭✭Antisocialiser

"It is difficult to talk about Bale because at the moment he is not a Real Madrid player," Ancelotti told a news conference.

"I believe the club is in talks to find a solution and we will see what happens.

"I am not used to talking about players who are not in my team and it would not be right to do so."

The club he is referring to seems to be Real Madrid. Again that doesn't mean they are negotiating a sale but we'll see. If he does go I wish him all the best.

Read this on a Spurs forum
Caulker - Was not happy at the club, was told he would not be in the starting 11, and he felt at this point in his career he needs regular game time. Also it turns out AVB didn't really rate him.

Find it strange that so many on here do, I never saw much myself but hoped he could come good....best of luck to him at cardiff.

Delighted the transfer fee seems to be agreed for Soldado. Now to just hang onto Bale

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,019 ✭✭✭davycc

im over the moon with the Soldado deal actually being done.

showing some real ambition in buying a proven world class player for once .

This is a lot of money for us guys , we just smashed our transfer record, its a very big deal for levy and spurs

I reckon if the bale situation hadnt surfaced then we would not be doing any more purchases, just ship out a few but if bale leaves then we will prob get 2 more in and the same outs

Even if the club he is talking about are Real Madrid, then surely it's more hype as Spurs have reiterated a number of times that Bale is not for sale.

I really hope this all dies down next week.

Bale should be fit for Saturday, right?

The bale saga has me split....

Would love to keep him, but if we sold him, how much of the fee would be spent on replacements...
Also, knowing our luck, he could getting crocked early doors and we would all be snapping wishing we did sell him.

A lot will be told if Bale does not partake in the game against Monaco on saturday...

Remember he got clattered in the 91st min at home to Basel....we all thought he would miss the remaining 6-7 games of the season...but he was back after 2 games..... now that was a bigger injury than this one he appears to have picked up...
I reckon if he does not play on saturday,it means we are making sure we dont take any risks due to him moving to Madrid.

All in all, i'll be saddened if he goes and delighted if he stays...

    TTID.

What a great signing. How long have we been looking for a proper striker!! Can't wait to see him line up and it's nice an early too which means he can get a full pre-season in.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,910 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Hope this Spaniard works out, knew as much before as I do now...nothing. Lot of money spent so the expectations will be massive. Majority of the Spanish players adapt quite well to the Premier league.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

It's funny, I remember a few years ago watching Holland in the World Cup when VDV came on and I wished at that moment that Spurs could get a player like him, and I could hardly believe it when he did. The same thing happened with Soldado. I was watching him play against someone last season and he scored a cracking volley from a cross and I wished we could get a player like him, and today he's signing for Spurs!!

Because that's not how it was supposed to be read.

It's as clear as day that Real are on the verge of signing Bale.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,713 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

Well, well, well. Im never shy to have a pop at DL but I have to give him his dues on the Soldando signing. £30m is some amount of money and a bit of a risk but its a quality signing and at the end of the day, if it doesnt work out DL does have to answer to Joe Lewis and I have to admire him for this**.

** I will take it all back if it turns out that the Bale deal was agreed days/weeks ago and the £30 is coming from the proceeds.

What's certain is that he's a spurs player now, anything else is purely speculative.

    Finally!

    Delighted with him.

Hopefully he's over and with the squad asap so that he can get a chance to mould with the rest of the team. Pity we don't have any Spanish mates for him (Cabellos not really in our first team squad yet and way younger than him), like Chadli has the two Belgian boys to help him integrate. Also Sandro spoke of how much Gomes helped him at first. Hopefully it's not a big issue anyway.

    DELIGHTED

There's comes a point where it passes the 'speculative' stage. We're there now and it's very unlikely that Bale will be a Spurs player come September.
