Motorola D10 socket won't fit into landline socket

Just bought the above but the connection wont fit into my phone socket. The adaptor thing is too big?? Anyone any experience of this before.

Is the Motorola D10 a DECT cordless phone? If so, is the plug you say is too big a big white one with a tab on the side? Again if so, then the lead you have is a UK one no Irish, ours are small clear platic ones with the tab on top. I'd go back to whereyou bought it and ask for an adapter or an Irish line (test before you leave the shop).
