cheeky b*st*rd had the gall to plug his radio show as well.. It was a bit presumptuous of him, given that if RTE had any balls at all he would have been fired from the show after the JNLR figures...

Nope. I just don't see the point in making a big issue about someone saying the word "poof", most of my gay relatives themselves use the terms fag, queen, etc. and don't seem to care if someone else.

Context matters. Given the tedious and self-consciously offensive nature of some of the 'anti-traveller' comments made by Lahm in last week's Late Late thread, I'd bet that he wasn't using the term 'poof' in the same way as your gay relatives might...

This unprecedented gap between The LLS and Vinny is most discombobulating :(

It's definitely on, they said so on the TV3 5.30 news.

Think it was a late change to the schedules.

    Night all!

The only memorable thing for me was Maureen O'Hara, when she gave out to DLB about his questions, and leaving him gobsmacked. That almost made it worth watching.

Nope. I just don't see the point in making a big issue about someone saying the word "poof", most of my gay relatives themselves use the terms fag, queen, etc. and don't seem to care if someone else. does Also, two minutes later you yourself were using a gay stereotype by referring to hiding the Judy Garland records, which by the standard you are trying to set would seem homophobic as well.

It's one thing for a gay person to say use those words, it's quite different for someone to use it in an obviously pejorative manner. Context.
'Most of your gay relatives'? have that many do you?
As for the Judy Garland remark I did have a gay boss in the hotel I worked in in Sweden who loved her. Stereotypes are often grounded in some truth.
He wouldn't have had a problem with me saying that.

What standard do you assume I'm trying to set? think you're making a false assumption based on me OMG! not liking to hear the language of prejudice and hatred here.
I frequent another popular (U.S. based Ravelry) forum where anyone using words like I've heard here week on week would be banned long ago.
Reminds me why I don't go onto boards more often. Also reminds me how backward and narrow-minded this country still is

Any chance he'll do a Ray Darcy on it and 'leave the country when Inda becomes Taoiseach'?;)
