28.1% 1st pref votes for FF in Carlow Kilkenny. We should be ashamed of ourselves! Total madness!

Out of curiosity, which constituency has given FF the most 1st pref votes?

I'd say its Cork South Central (Martin & McGrath) they had 28% first preference.

But that's less than the 28.1% I stated Carlow Kilkenny had given!

Does this mean Carlow Kilkenny is the highest? :o

They just like to do the opposite of whatever Dublin does. eg Dublin makes itself the actual capital city of this country so Cork goes and makes itself the imaginary capital.

People said it was the 'Martin Effect' that has helped FF in Cork
The same Martin who was a senior minister in the government that ruined the country ?

When has Irish politics made sense?

Tom Fleming and Michael Healy Rae elected without reaching quota in Kerry South.

Edit: Richard Boyd-Barret now elected in Dun Laoighire without reaching quota. Hannifin is now officially gone :D:D

The best part of this election story has to be these stats

    - 32 Fianna Fail sitting TDs not re-elected (including Mary Hannafin who just lost her seat)

    - The Greens lose all their seats

Adams being interviewed atm on RTE.. he's not coming across as badly as he has in recent interviews. Seems quite calm and collected if still a little clueless.

Yes but I'm sure the roads and water pressure in Cork South Central are second to none.

I saw that, and while I think their policy's are daft, i genuinely think Adams will be a positive influence for our parliament.

Right yeah, but this is irrelevant as the vote is over!

I think people in Carlow Kilkenny voted for FF John McGuinness because i think he has done a good bit for his constituency down here.

But I would imagine the main reason he got the votes was:

As far as I know : Back in March 2010 he asked for Brian Cowen to consider resigning... maybe?

    I didn't vote for them anyway :)

RTEcarlowkilkenny: #cwkk 2 Seats filled in this order: Lab Ann Phelan, FF McGuinness. Now Phelan's surplus to be distributed. All over bar the cheering.

Fianna Fáil has been reduced to just one TD in Dublin - Finance Minister Brian Lenihan - after Mary Hanafin lost her seat in Dún Laoghaire.

So far, 24 constituencies have no Fianna Fáil TDs, including those in Waterford, Tipperary, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Meath and Kerry.

    :D

Theres now a recount in Galway west. Not due to start till 6.30pm. The final result of this election is a long way off yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

And we have a recount in Laois-Offaly. Thats now 3.

On a lighter note, I found this....

Good bye Mary Coughlan, say hello, Mary Lou.

Bit like Enda Kenny on TV, yet he'll be Taoiseach

Have heard several interviews on TV and Radio with him recently, and he's actually quite the witty and personable man. This doesn't surprise me, in my experience the most deplorable human beings make the most charming personalities.

Also, anyone have any clue of when we can expect a result on any of the 4 recounts?

Well I wasn't really talking about his personality tbh.. more about the fact that he didn't try to dodge questions or go off on tangents when faced with them. As I said, he still seems to not be very clued in to the situation atm, but I'd say that as he gets his feet wet; that'll change.

I'm no supporter of what Adams has stood for in the past, no more than I am of the gombeenism in Irish politics that has dictated things for so long now. Both are aspects of history which I'm hoping people move on from, that goes for politicos and the public. Those left dwelling on history are the ones which change passes by.

Kitt FF, Connaughton FG, and Cannon FG elected in Galway East. Last seat between Keaveney LAB and McHugh FG for the last seat. Mc Hugh's 1200is votes behind, but there's two FG candidate's transfers currently being counted, so it could go either way.

Anyone watching the Eleventh Hour? Fcuk me.. FG up to their tricks already!

The phones are to busy for them to go forming governments at this stage apparently.. Back-slaps from Barroso et al take a front seat it seems!

    Galway West is taking forever.
Full recount, that woman is a terrible sore loser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

3rd day of counting, 8 seats still left. Wonder what odds we will have a result by the end of the day.

Are Galway West STILL having the same recount or is it a new one. Boourns.

Wicklow, what are ye's at? The 13 count of the recount and still no seats filled. I can see a 2nd recount there.

    :D
