    Saturday, 26 February 2011
    Mallorca v Barcelona
    Sporting Gijon v Real Zaragoza
    Espanyol v Real Sociedad
    Atletico Madrid v Sevilla
Deportivo La Coruna v Real Madrid

    Sunday, 27 February 2011
    Athletic Bilbao v Valencia
    Hercules v Getafe
    Levante v Osasuna
    Racing Santander v Villarreal

    Monday, 28 February 2011
    Malaga v Almeria

This really is a huge week for everyone, Mallorca are one of only 3 teams to take points off Barca this season, Barca are missing a few key players in Puyol, Valdes and Xavi, thankfully MVP are all still fit and i think that alone will be enough to get Barca the 3 points, it should be a good game though. Real Madrid are away to a tough Depor side, Valencia go to San Mames where Athletic really need a win to keep pressure on Villareal.

Very sloppy from Mallorca at the back.

    God does the biz again.

    42 for the season.

Edit: Oh and a header - LoL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

A double header at that, superior skill.

Is that his first header since the Champions league victory over Man Utd in 2009 ?

Well either way its a rarity from the lil chap.

    MESSI :)

That first touch was pure class. Underplayed by the commentary.

Pretty anaemic so far, the game is a long way from in control. Barca so desperately miss Xavi and Alves going forward. Even with Messi, they're not the same team.

    Why isn't Alvez playing?

My take on the first-half is that Barca were pretty average but I was even more disappointed with Mallorca.

Barca are there for the taking and compared to how they played in the first game at Camp Nou Mallorca are poor.

If they up it in the second half they could get something here - not a better time to be playing Barca in fairness for any team.

    Villa.............

    Were was the defence!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Very rare you see such a high defensive line against Barca. And thats why.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Nothing wrong with the ball retention in this half anyways. Hint of offside in both goals?

    We should ask AS :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

    Jizz Pedrito

    Great finish.

    This one over.

Lol, i was thinking the same myself. They'll have a field day if either goal is offside.

    Pedro! Deflection?

Sweet from PEDRO. Great 3 points for Barca. Thought they would struggle to win this match. Happy to be wrong.

How many has Pedrito got so far this season?

20 minutes for Bojan to do something at 0-3...

If that was an offside, Alves was offside last week.

No, he was clearly off, the Alves one was inconclusive.

How many games since Ronaldo's last goal?

Ronaldos left foot was equal with Depors last defender IMO.

Ronaldo has 1 goal in his last 8 games.

He did very well to keep up with Messi for as long as he did, in fairness.

That's not conclusive, the Athletic player is clearly overhanging the lines on the pitch too.

Alves being on or off has nothing to do with Ronaldo being clearly offside tonight:confused:

If the score remains as it is, we can expect an in-depth anaylsis tomorrow.

can someone tell me what % of free kicks Ronaldo takes end up as a goal

Must be a very low figure

It's beyond ridiculous. A freekick specialist he is not.

And that's why he wont make it as a Real Madrid player

Casillas should come forward in injury time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Yeah, that's sealed Benzema's fate at Real. Shame, i really rate him.

He builds up the free kick for the cameras with his posing and his puff of the cheeks, trying to be all dramatic. Most of the time, he hits the wall. Now and again, he'll score and it'll look good.

He's a bit like Roberto Carlos in that respect. Regarded as a free kick expert, but he hardly ever scores from them considering he takes every one of them them within a thirty yard radius of the goal.

I thought Barca were effective without having to play well tonight. Good considering the challenges coming up over the next two weeks. The day off might actually do the world of good for Alves tbh. His energy when tracking back hasn't been at its best. Also its good to see Keita enjoying himself. As a regularly used substitution having him on form is vital.

As for Madrid they can't be accused of not trying. Depor defended well and the keeper made some great saves. Madrid just lacked a killer instinct which is a shame because their becoming the cause of there own downfall. I honestly think Mouriniho is not the manager for Madrid.

Abidal looks a very very capable CB, he's got so much composure on the ball it's unreal. Adriano impressed me too, his best game for the blaugrana.

Aye, Abidal is looking better and better at CB. At the start of the season he wasnt that comfortable though in fairness. As regards Adriano I thought that nobody wanted to give him the ball! A lot of the play was involving Maxwell over the far side and at one stage I swear Pep striked up a conversation with Adriano when he had nothing to do. Thought it was quite amusing.

Great finish to the Racing-Villarreal game...

Borja Valero has been a cracking player anytime I've seen him...

    Llorente, again, 1-0.

Fantastic equaliser from Mata, beautifully incisive play.

Edit - 1-2 Valencia, Bilbao throwing this away!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,672 ✭✭✭elefant

Valencia fan here, first post in these forums.

Things going well for us lately, looking forward to tonight's game with Barca. Our bockety defenders will probably mean we'll concede at least one, but I'm hoping Xavi won't play and give us a chance at sneaking it. Wishful thinking probably!:)
