    Hi everyone

went into elverys this morning to see what their gait analysis set up was like. seemed reasonable, but their staff didnt inspire me with confidence.
Has anyone tried it before and I'd like to hear opinions?

Im considering going down to the lads in bray for it but if Elverys (being free) and legit I'll go there.

    Cheers
    SM

I think Amphibian King are much better - they will try you in lots of different pairs and know what they're talking about. I got the impression in Elverys that the staff had been given 5 minutes training to explain over- and under-pronation, and told which shoes to sell for each.

thats exactly what i felt when i went in, i was told i was an overpronater and advised to buy the most expensive runners....i thought i was a neutral gait, i think i go to a real expert

You will get a good idea what you are with a quick look at the soles of your feet.
I know i am an over pronator and i have tough skin on the outsides of both my feet from where i hit the ground first.
I reckon i pronate more on my right side as my right small toe is a bit squashed up from the impact.

Just a reminder Amphibian king is now in Ballymount as well as Bray and Oranmore.
    for directions check www.base2race.ie
Regarding Elverys they are trained to do the analysis in less than 10minutes,
don't ask any history on injuries and have no experience as runners. There are a couple of good guys and girls but it would be hit and miss.

I go it done in Dundrum after having done it previously in Amphibian King in Bray. Both advised me to go for a neutral shoe. AK for me were more knowledgeable and generally more helpful and would be my first choice.

In saying that I couldn't fault the lad I was dealing with in Elverys and I would have no problem returning to him again.

The same can be said about any running store eg. AK, Runways, Runworx. Alot of staff members in all stores are runners themselves with a bit of training. None of them have a vast knowledge in biomechanics bar B2R. I've shopped in all Dublin running specialists, Elverys included and have found the experience the same no matter where I go, which is of a decent level

I went to AK and had my gait done and probably got the worst pair of runners I have ever had the misfortune to run in.
I then went to another run shop and probably got the second worst pair of runners.
I should have educated myself a bit more and not placed as much faith in the shop staff
Elverys can be hit and miss too but so can the other shops. You will also find that a lot of shops have a high turn over of staff.
One day you walk in to elverys, the same guy or gal could be looking after you the next week in AK etc

    Jnealon,

I'm sorry to hear you have had trouble with our service. You have been very unfortunate in this regard as we would very seldom have complaints about the fitting or selection of shoes.

I would ask you to bring the shoes back to the store where you were fitted for a full re-analysis and refit with a replacement shoe.

We stand over any recommendations that we make in terms of shoe size & shoe type and offer a 30 day guarantee on this selection. That's how confident we are about our service.

Regarding staff, all of our staff are long term employees and our selection process is quite stringent so we have utmost confidence in their abilities.

As I ask, please do come back to us and give us the opportunity to resolve your issue.

    Sean

AK, Runways and Runworx don't have anywhere near the sort of staff turnover as elverys. All 3 are independent stores and the quality of their staff is a massive part of their success. Their staff is the reason their reputation is so good...

I don't deny that AK, runworx and runways wouldn't have the same staff turnover than Elverys. But my point is that it is unfair to criticise some staff's training when other staff in other stores have the same training. Some independent stores reputations are good but has declined in recent years

Thanks for the offer but I bought these shoes back in 2010 and tbh did not know about the 30 day policy
For info the shoes I got were the Dyad5 and I have medium to high arches and underpronate.
