Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yes but then you gotta copy or move the file from your dropbox folder to your sd card (in the case of a new rom), with ftp you put it where you want it, copy it once. ;)

I also use dropbox for some things, but for multiple files or big files like roms I use ftp

Yeah like I said, dropbox isnt really suitable for big files but for like a apk or images it's grand. Honestly, I just wanted my referral link out there. :-P

Thats normal and not exclusive to a Darky's ROM. It's a safety feature I think to prevent overcharging of the battery

Agreed. If you have juiceplotter, you'll be able to see that battery usage will plateau not long after so it's all fine.

If you're starting from stock samsung you need to follow the instructions in the 1st post in this thread. You can upgrade to 9.4 very easily once you have this done.

Read the instructions then read them again! watch the video, then read the instructions again .The video is a guide if in doubt stick to the instructions.
Print them because you're going to need your computer.
You'll be using a program called Odin to flash the phone the first time. After that you won't need it again. But your computer must be able to connect to the phone, so you'll need the driver for this.

    Correct...

I followed the instructions and video from the first page and I did not have any problems at all...

Instead of installing 9.2 onto your phone, just swap that with 9.4 file and away ya go once the base rom is installed... So don't even install 9.2 as the instructions say, install the 9.4 file instead, it's only a different file your installing is all....

I couldn't believe how easy is was...

Hopefully you will be able to get into recovery mode, as a friend of mine had a problem getting into it, and also getting into CWM once the base rom was installed... Both of their phones were newer phones than mine...

Plenty of lads here to help if you get stuck....

Unmount your sd card, install them then mount again, its a known bug

On 9.4 my call recording was giving problems, if I tried to use it the keypad froze.
I found this fix and it worked a treat. Just download the zip file and flash it like you would a Rom. No need to wipe. It overwrites the call recording app with an older one that works.

    http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/mod-stock-call-recording.952/page-2#post-9146

    This is the file:
    http://db.tt/q0sfueP

If you want to wait I'm sure this and all the other little problems will all be fixed when he brings out 9.4.1

    Lewis
Flashed 0.6.9 earlier. Definitely faster and smoother than Darky's. No question about it. Only snag for me is that Launcher Pro is the default launcher program..........any time i've had that installed before I've had random shutdowns. But maybe it used to clash with TWLauncher or something. Anyway I'm all set up on LP and if I have an issue with it I'll swith back to ADW. Early days yet, but I can't see me going back to Darky's after seeing how fast and smooth Insanity is. Absolutely pure class. Thanks for pointing it out...........

which step should we replace 9.4 with 9.2?
    is it this one?
    4. Copy the file resurrection.zip (extracted from the ROM's .zip file you downloaded at the start) to your internal sd-card.

and what should i replace this with? is it Darkys_v9.4_Extreme_Edition.zip as a whole?

everyone is saying you need Odin for first time flash.

    This link says different:

Yes, with 2.2 you get 3e recovery which will not allow clockworkmod recovery to install as normal with the update.zip, this is how you do it if you have 3e:

Anyone get this bug when trying to pick a wallpaper from your gallery? The selector box only seems to be in one screen size, instead of the panoramic one that pans when you pan homescreens, weird.
    http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/682/sc20110325144407.png

Also, my WiFi doesn't seem to be turning off when the screen does, I remember on stock there was an option in One Click Lag Fix that let you set the time to wait to turn off the WiFi (to a few seconds), is there anything like that with DM or can I just use OCLF for that and it won't interfere with DM?

    Hey,

I was having the wallpaper issue at first but it fixed itself almost straight away. You know you have to pinch zoom, pinching the borders? Well even that wasn't working on then just did so keep trying.

As for Wifi, what do your settings in settings > wireless and network > wifi > [menu] advanced > wifi sleep policy say?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,579 ✭✭✭BopNiblets

do you have to wipe first before installing on 9.4 ? also do you have to undo the lag fix first ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Just undo lagfix, no wipe they say is fine. But I had a problem, I lost lots of apps and settings after disabling lagfix, something fooked up, so I did a wipe. I'm now restoring my apps & settings with Titanium on 9.5

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,876 ✭✭✭budgemook

on darkys page, as well as links to the rom, there are links to dark core (odin and cwm), what are these for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

Just links to the kernel thats included in the rom

You can upgrade and keep all settings and apps, takes 10 mins. 9.5 feels smoother and fixes the app installing bugs

I upgraded from 9.4 with 'no wipe' - I just disabled lag fixes first and everything went OK.

I was happy enough with 9.3 so didn't bother upgrading to 9.4. I'll probably take the plunge and upgrade to 9.5.

Just 1 question, Is the lagfix enabled by default on 9.3,9.4 and 9.5 or do you have to enable this yourself?

ok so ive both mine and my gfs phone running 9.5 now so far no major probs seems a lot faster although when i went into my gallery the whole thing froze with a line across the screen and dimmed display I actually had to take out the battery to restart although it seems fine now, this happened after applying the new lag fix

I'm finding the stock gallery very slow also, open sgs tools, upgrade stock apps and install the modded gallery

Note, it may break something, I upgraded the email client before to the Galaxy tab one and had to revert when the barcode scanner stopped working

That was one of the v9.4 bugs. Should be OK now in v9.5.

Installed 9.5 without wipe but i did turn off the lag fix and put it back on.

quad is about the same (1480-1580), but not really noticing any other differences.

Stock gallery is pretty slow, slower than 9,4, but better after installing the mod from SGStools.

So yesterday I did a wipe upgrade to 9.4.

Going to do a non wipe upgrade to 9.5 today so I don't have the bugs.

I hear people saying make sure you disable lagfix. Why's that? Do I just do it in Darkys Configuration app?

    Thanks

Restart into recovery, disable voodoo lagfix and system lagfix. It takes a while so be patient. Then reflash with 9.5
