Rumour is that Ashley Cole shot a groundstaff member or fan with an air rifle. Not the first time a story about Ashley's big weapon has made it into the NOTW.

Also, what's with the snide Guardian comments? The Murdoch liars and shít stirring trolls of The Sun and NOTW are surely more deserving of scorn.

Also, what's with the snide Guardian comments?

Saying they had a massive exclusive to announce, building it up for quite a while and then announcing a story that Inter Milan might bid for Gareth Bale in the summer was ridiculous.

It's that The Guardian tweeted a few weeks back that they were gonna break a major major news story that evening. The story turned to be nothing at all. A transfer rumour or something like that. I can't remember exactly (and that says it all ,to be honest)

    "High powered rifle"!

Isn't .22 as low as a rifle could possibly be? Nothing a pair of tweezers couldn't fix.

Because he's a grade A muppet, people with that level of intelligence should not be paid ridiculous sums of money, don't know anything about firearm laws in England but I hope it's enough to send him away for a while, maybe knock a bit of sense into him

lol at 'high powered' its not even legally a fecking firearm in the uk as far as i know. It would break skin from that close but thats about it, unless he shot him in the face. Stupid but half as bad as the paper are making it out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Seriously blown out of proportion. Even from 5ft it's barely going to break the skin unless it's hits bare flesh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,068 ✭✭✭Bodhisopha

Why is this thread open and the one about the young Manchester United player locked?

Yeah that was silly alright, and he put himself in a stupid position by having it as the press etc will latch onto anything he does wrong.

But phrases like 'high powered' and 'deadly' and 'lethal' are cringeworthy.

True....however we are talking about a highly paid professional england international roaming around the training grounds with a rifle.....i never thought i'd type something like that...its ****ing crazy IMO

They should take it up with the guardian who published the story. Jesus, good enough for the guardian but not good enough for boards? Ridiculous.

Of course the papers are making a meal of it but it all depends where you hit someone with an air rifle, imagine getting hit the face or eye from 5ft, it would be more than cringeworthy then! Its a dangerous weapon and was in the hands of an idiot, even more dangerous!!

Cos that thread was idiotic. Basically, Utd fans will defend him whereas if he were at another team, they would deride him.

Liverpool fans deride him, whereas if he were at Liverpool, they would defend him.

That thread was going nowhere!! The football forum was not the place for that thread!!

Yeah, without doubt. Ashley Cole is an England Interntional who brought an air rifle into the dressing room and shot somebody!

Absolute idiot who even Chelsea fans agree with that sentiment. We're all agreed, the NOTW is gonna sensationalise the story, but takes nothing away from Cole's idiocy.

Therefore Cole's idiocy is not a reflection on his club in this case.

The thread about a Man U nobody who could end up being a somebody will just end in a car crash of a thread involving bannings based on point scoring.

So it's locked. Thread going nowhere. No debate to be had. What's the problem?
