Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

laptop keeps connecting to nearby Powerline network?

    Hi,
over the last few days my wife's laptop keeps trying to connect to a Powerline network instead of our own eircom wireless router. The home wifi shows a stronger signal but each time her laptop connects to the powerline network instead and she has to disconnect and reconnect to Eircom. Even though the laptop says it is connected to this network it is not connecting to the internet

From what I have been reading Powerline seems to be a system that allows signals to be sent through the houses wiring. We do not have such a system and I doubt if either of our neighbours would have it installed either but haven't asked yet.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem.

It sounds like the it has somehow been set as your default wireless connection.

What OS is the laptop running?

At some stage this network was set as having a higher priority by someone using the laptop. If you remove the network from the list of networks the laptop knows about it should be fine.

"powerline" its just the name given by someone to a nearby wireless network. Its a security risk if you allow yourself to connect to it so delete the network from discovered networks.

Thanks for replies. Laptop OS is Windows XP. I have done the following:

Clicked on view available networks, then on advanced settings removed the powerline network.

When I get a chance icon7.gif, I will restart her computer and see what happens this time. It is very unlikely that anyone would have changed the priority of the neworks.

Also, make sure you have not ticked the box 'connect to a more preferred network if available'.
