Dunne and Crescenzi on Frederick St.

Amazing wine at a good price, even the house wine is always good, and the food has become incredible value for the quality in recent years.

I LOVE Diep Le Shaker off Pembroke Street. Really good Thai food.

That place is rubbish. Over priced mediocre food with very poor service.

It was really good at one stage, but yeah, not great the last time I went. Weirdo waiter.

ely is a great choice and it's not over priced. You could go to ely bar & brasserie which is the venue down in the IFSC.
The restaurant downstairs is to impress, service is excellent and superb food/wine.

    Why D2?

Head up to the Kylemore in D1. Located at the corner of O'Connell and North Earl Sreets. They do a nice meal.

Don't you dare bring a date to Kylemore young man!!!

Lahm - What is with the constant plugs for Kylemore? Are you involved with that business?
Seriously - the OP asked for a restaurant recommendation - romantic & in D2. Not a cafe in D1.

    Thanks,

    HB

I'd say the kylemore would be very confused if someone rang up looking for a table for two!

    ps
    that's lahm....he's a troll

LOL. I've no connection with Kylemore except having ate there a few times.

I like their chips and the view from the window. The view is quite romantic.

cheers guys, think i'll opt for Diep le Shaker !

the guy who recommended the Kylemore, i'd seriously have to question his motives ! i've been there before with my Mum, when we've just got a bus up from the country, its a nice cafe but that's it !

He or she is a troll. Best ignored. Good luck on your date.

Fair enough. I don't actually know what time it closes at. It could be closed by 8pm anyway.

    Enjoy!

If it's going well and you fancy splashing out try one of their cocktails. They're a bit pricey but laced with booze and delicious!

Try Koh, great food, great cocktails!
Always full of groups of old gals too though for some reason!

Koh is actually really good, I forgot about there.

Kitty's Bistro on Merrion Row is yum - and a lovely chilled vibe in there.

Not Baggot Street, but Dublin 2 - I've always really enjoyed Odessa on Dame Court, off Dame Lane, Off George's Street/behind Dame Street (catches breath :pac:).
Lovely fresh food, perfect for a date - really softly lit and chilled.

Jaysus I remember getting a burger in there years ago, it was nice but I got a bit of it caught in me teeth and it took ages to get out again (had to buy floss in the end!). Never been back but it was nice grub alright and if your date fancies it there's a couple of nice pubs in The Stags Head and The Dame Tavern right beside for before/after!
