    I love watching programmes on tribes, particularly Human Planet at the minute. I would love to learn more about different tribes from around the world so does anyone have any reading recommendations?

    Depends on what you're looking for, this is usually used as a textbook on introductory social anthropology courses;

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Small-Places-Large-Issues-Introduction/dp/0745317723

    It discusses core concepts in anthropology chapter by chapter, and gives a decent outline of the disciplines history of thought (i.e. you get a chapter on kinship, class, religion as structures, with reference examples drawn from field studies).

    I'm not sure where you might look for more descriptive works - are you thinking more national geographic style journalism?
