Seat hang gliding thing

    I drove out to Silver Strand there yesterday to take in the air with herself, around 5 or 6pm, and there was a guy with some sort of a hang gliding contraption floating over the cliffs. What it really looked like was one of those kite surfing things or a parachute with a chair hanging under it. He did indeed fly through the air with the greatest of ease, but never left the area around the cliffs.

    Anyone know what the story is there, and does he give lessons?

    its like a go kart with a big fan being it and a parachute?

    There's a lad with one in Athlone, always going for a spin on nice days like today.

    No idea what they are called.

    There was no fan that I could see or hear, he was just bobbing around in the updraft from the wind hitting the cliffs, guiding it with movements of his body. Looked like a lot of fun! Some intensive googling brought up unpowered seated paragliding, which looks about right:
