4 3 3 I'd say, fonz and gabby supporting Heskey.

dont think he'd play bannan (too lightweight) and petrov (too immobile) in a trio

viera!? no tevez!? dzeko on the bench as well? good to see michael johnson back in the match day squad though

I'd say it'll be more like

    Friedel
    Herd --- Dunne -- Clark --- Delph;
    ----Bannan - Petrov - Bradley
    Delfouneso
    Agbonlahor,
    Heskey

    or

    Friedel
    Herd --- Dunne -- Clark --- Delph;
    Petrov - Bradley
    Delfouneso - Bannan - Agbonlahor,
    Heskey

    hopefully not tbh

if rather we're only playing one striker who cant play on the wing on the wing than two of them

So instead he'd play an immobile petrov in a 2?
Nah, it has to be a 3 in the middle.

    not in a 2, in a 4

Sure he's never played Gabby in a 4 4 2 or Bannan out wide. Anyway we'll see in half an hour.

yeah but hes hardly gonna play 2 strikers as wingers, that'll mean theres less actual width on the pitch than there would be playing a 4, and you cant play just 3 midfielders against city or they'll dominate with their 29 defensive mids gobbling everything up

if we line up with fonz and gabby on the wings we're gonna be absoutely destroyed

A similar line up played against Blackburn in the last round.

    similar, but not the same

we had walker who offers a decent attacking threat and pires who, although about as fast as a dead dog, can dictate things occasionally

but christ almighty you cant play against a decent team having midfielders playing as stand in full backs and 2 strikers on the wings

Looks like City are through to the semi-final of the cup.

A second one soon and it should be game over. Terrific start.

    Hope MJ gets on.

Early days. Plenty of time for a comeback

    Lovely passing game from City

Villa surprisingly throwing out a makeshift team. They look like they will finish mid-table in the PL so i thought they might give it a good shot since they have nothing else to play for really.

    Ridiculously good finish.

Oh that is sexy from Mario.

Sweet, looking forward to what will hopefully be a comfortable cup tie now. You'd have to fancy them in the quarters against Reading at home then into the semi's. City have never gotten to a major cup final in my 12 years supporting them, I think I would wet myself. Even if it is "only" the FA cup final..

Great to see City playing like this:)

none of this sitting back crap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

I'd like to see NRC and Young or Downing on for Heskey and Petrov at half time.

We're failing to create as we've no proper width and Petrov looks like he doesn't care

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Lovely half of football. I'd take Mario off now with that knee.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

Tidy finish from Super Mario... I'd also take him off now, he's looking a bit stiff after that knock... Just see this through and we've a great chance at the semi's!

Heskey off, Young on and Gabby up top is what I would do.
Albrighton or Downing for Fonz after 60 or so minutes.

Cushy night for city. villa not at the races, should be a handy second half unless city fall totally asleep.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 17,661 ✭✭✭✭Helix

when we start slowly we generally perk up in the second half, dont think this is quite over yet but id be surprised if city dont get through

I can see us getting a goal but don't know if we have enough to get 2 and to stop city scoring again

Bradley making a few errors :/

Good to see Gabby and Richards go at each other :D

Bradley giving the ball away too much. Hope he's a better player than what I've saw of him so far

So Clattenburg receives the backing of the FA with them saying he took the correct action with the Rooney/McCarthy incident,

Then now he books Balotelli for that? strange

    Clark gets his yellow card.

He must be close to a ban
