Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Crazy game in Tallaght this evening. Dundalk were well in the game before the sending off, Daniel Kearns shone for them. I'd estimate about 4,500 attendance.

    Was at the Rovers game myself reporting for extratime.ie (shameless plug), Dundalk could have been one or two up before the sending off. Obviously the red, although deserved after some shocking defending, changed the game though. If Dundalk had just held on till half time it could have been so different but once Gary Twigg got in the mood it could have been 4 or 5. How did he not get a hat trick?!

    Great crowd there for a televised game, fair play to the fans.

    Not a great plug, extratime are awful with their updates. Noone on the main tracker knew Dundalk had a keeper sent off altho you reported it on 23 mins.

    If Aertel are faster than you, and you have the full ability of the internet something is very very wrong. Extratime its a great idea shame its exectued badly it proclaims itself as an LOI Live site but its updates could do with some work.

    /not a fan of extratime, good idea but with the technical **** on offer could be better.

    Wuold hate to have to rely on them for updates.

    Just in.

    Scrappy at first but Rovers on top after sending off. Fuck the what ifs What can you do except play who is there? O Neill and Finn looked great and the passing football of the pre-season is there to see. O'Donnell will go straight in beside Finn when back and I would say Rice will feature more away or in Europe.

    I would say 5k there easy. The surrounds of the stadium were mobbed coming up to match time and the east stand (where the cameras are) was jammed.

    Sounds fair enough to me...anything to keep Pats and Bohs off the top...:pac:

    Thought it was a game of two halves at Tallaght funnily enough. Twigg and O'Neill were a powerfulcombination in the second half. O'Neill's ability to bring the ball down, lay it off and find Twigg could be very useful over the season. Third goal was a great strike. I thought Murray was unfortunate and should have had someone warn him of the player behind him and take it off his foot..

    Dennehy was very ineffective, even in the second half and any of Dundalk's threat including the build up to Mannus' save was down Rovers' left with massive holes and players AWOL from a throw in on the opposite side.

    We were the better team in the 1st half, but Derry were all over us in the second half. Teams should realise there is no point in even trying to take penalties against us at this stage, better off looking for a corner. Nice counter attack for our goal, Greene finished it well, looks like a good signing. Can't wait for next week now, bring on the Shamrock.

    Nicked this from foolish.ie and if true (ours was def 5k + anyway), some of the attendances are very promising. Nice one.

    Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk -> 5,263 (ET.ie, AL.ie)
    Bray Wanderers v Bohemians -> 2,500 est (ET.ie)
    Derry City v Sligo Rovers -> almost 4,000 (RTE.ie, AL.ie)
    Drogheda United v UCD -> 650 est (ET.ie)
    Galway United v St Patrick's Athletic -> 1,512 (Et.ie, RTE.ie)

    If Bohs or Sligo don't go pop (and Cork and Shels come up), we could be looking at a relatively solvent, "booming" Premier league soon.

    Two things:

    1) First day of the season would probably be a factor in high attendences before falling away, although hopefully not!

    2) Two and a half thousand in the Carlise Ground for Bray against Bohs??? Come onm you gotta be sh!tting me!!

    Yes and he was solid. Made some good saves and of course saved a penalty, a very poorly taken penalty at that. How Zayed missed the rebound...

    Great to start with a win especially with shams up next. Just so ye know lads, we don't have gourmet food available, don't have shiny tickets either this year and we don't have pre heated toilet seats. Just letting ye know in case you get a shock coming to the country.

    You better have shiny tickets or another complaint is going into the FAI about yous breaching licencing - again. Why should other clubs spend our scarce money doing it right if yous are going to take the piss.

    At least Derry have an excuse. They have to pay VAT to her majesty, therefore, no harm in "fiddling" with attendance figures.

    Good healthy crowd up in Tallaght last night and they saw a good game, met some neighbours of mine who were there for the first time, and will defo be back, they used to go to see the Arse once a month and have stopped, maybe the recession may help the domestic game after all.

    Some pics I took of last nights game are here

    Shels win on the road in Longford.

    Came from one down to win 1-2, Conan Byrne and Casso with the goals.

    Happy with that.

    Any chance you's can just shut the f*ck up and walk into the ground like normal people without causing crowd congestion by arguing that you demand actual tickets compared to raffle ones??

    We were poison, made Longford look fantastic at times. Obviously delighted with the result, but play like that again and virtually anyone could hammer us. Little conviction up front, and zero coordination at the back.

    Reckon a lot of it stemmed from Giller having a severe off night, he barely made a pass stick and was the deepest of the 3 midfielders, so every time we played out of defence it was given away, and when hoofed they mopped up and seemed to keep setting their forwards free.

    Their #9 ripped us a new one for the first hour or so. :eek:

    Right on cue, weasel boy shows up. We are talking about how clubs are to handle big crowds here, not an issue you need to deal with at Bohs. Except when we come to say hello of course.

    Btw, Rovers wont be handling away our allocation for any clubs this season. The time and expense invested as a customer service to our fans handling tickets for certain clubs has been thrown back in our face one time too many. So you can pay for the operation yourselves if you want a couple of thousand ticket sales from us. Maybe we might see clubs paying for proper security and stewarding also, but I wont hold my breath.

    to be fair to our lads they have been playing some fantastic stuff in pre season and yer 2nd goal came about through our new centre half making a balls of it and gettin in the way when rouse went to collect the ball, our centre half got in the way, attempted a half arsed clearance and gave it straight to yer player! thought for us don up front( the number9) had a good game, could have set up jacques for a goal in the first half when it was 2 on 1 but he got greedy, our right winger did f all after bundlin over the goal. we are very fast, young team this year, we wont be too bad, thought a draw would have been a fair result, we were better in first half, shels were better in second half. looking forward to the return leg in may!

    Thought Rovers were shocking in the first half the other night. Even with the extra man they continued hoofing it aimlessly. Had our finishing been better we could have been a couple up before the sending off.
    Even after the sending off we were the better team and had we have held out until half time we may have had a chance of getting something from the game.
    O'Neill must have given them a right bollocking at half time as they did play a bit of ball in the second half, used the extra man well and were worthy winners. Glad to see that cheat McCabe finally get booked for diving though :D

    I would have no fear playing Rovers for the rest of the season and I think Sligo will beat them next weekend

    Actually your cunning new plan will backfire on you with us anyway. We have to buy 500 tickets on 1st come basis from tallaght, genius idea that.

    Normally our security/shop sells them ensuring certain fans dont get them. Now anyone can go to your stadium and buy them. We normally bring our own stewards but hopefully wont anymore if this is how you plan to do business, you sold us the tickets you deal with who gets them.

    Football games have this structure where there is a second period of equal length. The one in which you were lucky not to ship about another 5 goals?

    The LOI model: bank on the big away gate. Fuck them into a oversold kip of a section with crap stewarding and then blame the club if it kicks off no matter who is involved.

    Yes. Rovers could have easily have scored another two and it would have been possible due to the amount of possession they had in the second half. However had the game stayed at 11 V 11 rovers then I would imagine Rovers would have persevered with the same rubbish football they played last season and Dundalk would have gotten something from the game. Rovers have some of the best (if not the best) midfielders in the country. Why bi-pass them?

    Rovers will win the league but not from their standard of football it will be due to the size of their squad (and Gary Twigg).

    I was at the game and didn't see all this hoofing that you're talking about.

    As for saying if it had stayed at 11 vs 11. It didn't. Cherrie was sent off for a blatant foul that prevented a near-certain goal.

    You didn't take your chances and got beat. Deal with it.

    Generally whoever is on the pitch is involved. Reap what ye sow and all that, but im sure this has been thought through by the model club. We can now bring as many fans as we want to Tallaght once we dont wear colours and Q up nice and early to get our tickets.

    You might fly that by some of the people on here, but you know that the myth of angelic fans of other clubs (including yours) doesn't wash. State of some of the myth-making going on round here. Your pikeys got on the pitch the season before last and went straight for our section or did you forget that?

    Other clubs want the big gate but won't organize properly. How come there are virtually zero incidents in the vicinity of Tallaght stadum when Pats and Bohs bring big crowds up? You get what you pay for.

    We have issues with some of our fans (mad hearing someone say that isnt it?) We used to control who went to Tallaght but now cant due to this new brilliant idea. So what will happen is our fans will be allowed to go to tallaght unmonitored.

    The only incident we had in Tallaght was when the police let us out at the same time as you after we/you just scored a last minute equaliser. All rovers related incidents at other grounds are down to same problem, your fans.

    Anyway this will just end with the same ****e, it wasnt rovers fans it was someone else. So i think this is a bad idea for all concerned.

    I think you have this backwards. We will still be couriering out 500 tickets to Inchicore for you to distribute as you see fit, if you want them.

    What we will not be doing is selling tickets for away games.

    We are sick of collecting 3,000 tickets from D7, handing them €40,000 in cash (which they insist on, even though we take cards, causing us a cashflow issue) at a cost to the club and then having 3,000 fans in a condemned open stand with one entrance / exit, no food facilites, no lighting. unsafe toilets to get treated like dirt by security and our officials even worse.

    Fcuk that. Why should we lose money helping Bohs treat us like crap? Let them pay for people to sell us tickets. Enough is enough.

    And this also applies in smaller doses to Dundalk, Sligo and Pats.
